Friday 13th February saw a host of top DJ’s entertain the masses at Birmingham’s hip Factory Club at the Custard Factory on Gibb Street in the UK. The night was a set from the monthly Friction event.

Presented by the award winning BBC Radio 1 and BBC Asian Network DJ, Bobby Friction, the regular monthly Friction set aims bring a new lease of life into the Midlands Desi music scene. It is a fusion of East meets West, Desi meets Urban Beatz & Electronica in a celebration of Asiatic vibes & music.

Each and every month, Friction is curated by Bobby himself and showcases the elite artists of Asian Music; both live acts and DJ`s all set in the charismatic Custard Factory Complex in Digbeth, Birmingham. Artists are hand picked by Bobby himself aimed to unleash the crème de la crème of exciting, fresh artists alongside leading world class tastemakers in one of the most unique settings in the UK.

Bobby said, “I’m so excited about returning to The Custard Factory with my own night. I had a beautiful couple of years DJ`ing there at the ‘Shaanti’ clubnights and have always loved the venue. After running Friction nights in London I have made Birmingham, the 2nd City, my home and cant wait for the next installment!”

This particular Friction set on the night featured Bobby Friction, BBC Radio 1 and BBC Asian Network DJ Nihal, the hit Bhangra duo Tigerstyle and GES-E & Osmani Soundz (The Nasha Experience).

The night proved to be a massive hit and a welcome addition to Birmingham’s Desi music scene. As the drinks flowed the crowd flooded into the main room to enjoy an exhilarating hour long set from Bobby Friction and Nihal. The crowd demonstrated their approval through continuous dancing as the crashing beats rocked the venue.

Tigerstyle then took centre stage later in the evening, hitting the crowds with their mix of hardcore Bhangra and fusion beats, and this fantastic night of live music was capped off with a GES-E & Osmani Soundz (The Nasha Experience) playing the final set into the small hours.
