"It means we can spend more time together as a family."

A father-of-three shared how he managed to earn £7,000 in just three weeks by swapping three jobs for a ‘side hustle’.

Working three jobs to make ends meet, Taj Singh struggled to balance his work and home life.

In the day he worked in the construction trade whilst at night, Taj was a civil engineer.

Taj, of Islington, even found himself sleeping in his car between jobs.

During his time working for a flatpack delivery company, Taj came across an opportunity to earn some extra money when a customer asked him to build the items outside of his shift.

Dreaming of becoming his own boss, the entrepreneur realised it could be a “good business idea” and began researching flatpack assembly companies.

The 27-year-old later came across the local services marketplace Airtasker and began completing a variety of tasks.

He said: “I wanted to spend more time with my kids and my wife because we barely used to see each other.

“When I started earning on Airtasker, it was actually way more money, yet I wasn’t spending so much time working.”

As Taj took on more tasks, he gradually reduced his three jobs to one.

Taj now says his side hustle is his main source of income, bringing in £500 a week on average.

He has completed more than 140 tasks, with a string of five-star reviews.

Taj explained: “I do a variety of tasks. If I’m building wardrobes or something, it’s from £150 to £200. Painting jobs could be £300 to £400.

“It means we can spend more time together as a family. It’s honestly a blessing.”

Taj once earned £7,000 in three weeks.

He had been working on a painting job worth £2,500, decorating a six-bedroom house in Essex.

Unbeknown to him, the client had two other properties which needed renovating, which they would give to him, depending on the results of the first job.

Taj worked hard to upskill himself with the help of his friend, and they went on to secure the other two jobs – bringing in a total of £7,000.

Taj and his family have dreamt of moving to Australia for 10 years and in summer 2024, it will become a reality.

He said:

“It’s been a dream since we were young. We’re finally doing it.”

“I never expected the amount of work I’d be able to get on Airtasker.

“It has allowed me to earn the same amount of money but work less, meaning I can spend more time with my children and earn more money to support my family.

“The money covers bills and also allows me to save up for my family’s dream of moving to Australia in the next year.”
