"Staying silent hasn’t really gotten us anywhere."

Former Miss Universe Pakistan Erica Robin has expressed her deep disgust regarding women who actively undermine other women’s rights.

She spoke out after the arrest of activist Sheema Kermani during preparations for the upcoming May 10, 2026, rally.

The model shared her strong reactions through a series of emotive video messages posted to her Instagram account.

She said: “I woke up today to the disgusting, disturbing news that Aurat March has yet to receive their NOC [no-objection certificate] for their peaceful march on May 10.”

Authorities have reportedly withheld the necessary legal clearance for the planned peaceful gathering in the city of Karachi.

“They were fighting for the NOC, but women were dragged… by other women.

“I think it’s a very, very shameful act that we don’t respect our women in our country.”

Robin noted that the physical dragging of female protesters by fellow women was a particularly disgraceful sight to behold.

The beauty queen was particularly appalled by the negative comments she observed under her social media posts recently.

“Forget men, women are so happy, and I am sure these are the same women who get beaten and abused by their fathers and brothers, and they continue to adjust and live with them.”

The activist questioned why talking about basic human rights continues to be such a controversial issue in her nation.

She said: “It’s a really, really shameful act that we can’t breathe freely in our country, we can’t speak freely.

“If we speak about marital rape, harassment, equal rights, it becomes the biggest issue in the country.”

Robin urged all residents of Karachi to join the march to show their support for the movement.

She acknowledged that some individuals may feel too afraid to attend the public rally, given the current volatile situation.

For those unable to attend in person, she recommended raising awareness through various digital platforms and personal social networks.

She said: “Staying silent hasn’t really gotten us anywhere, nor will it.”

The model also addressed influential figures who are currently preoccupied with global fashion events like the recent Met Gala.

She reminded celebrities that they have a moral duty to acknowledge the struggles of women fighting for equality today.

“Take a moment to acknowledge the women being arrested for peacefully marching for equal rights”

Robin believes that the worlds of glamour and social responsibility can indeed exist together without any major conflict occurring.

She emphasised that spreading awareness about these arrests costs nothing but can have a massive impact on the cause.

The model said: “Fashion, glamour and social responsibility can coexist”

Erica Robin had previously shared footage of Sheema Kermani being manhandled by police officers before being pushed into cars.

This visual evidence of police brutality against peaceful activists has sparked a significant conversation across the entire South Asian region.
