“Farzi Fever. Thank you all so much.”
Shahid Kapoor’s series Farzi has become the most-watched Indian series of all time, dethroning Mirzapur.
According to a survey conducted by Ormax Media, Farzi has been declared the most-watched Indian series of all time with a record viewership of 37.1 million.
According to Twitter users, producers Raj & DK have once again rewarded fans with a “masterpiece” of a television series that is enjoying great success.
Raj & DK have transformed the OTT space with unique and captivating material, and they frequently demonstrate how well they understand the likes and preferences of their audience.
After the release of their creation, The Family Man, the duo took over India’s web series space.
They continued spreading their unique content creation ideas by giving the audience another incredible series, Farzi, which left a great impression on the audience.
But why do viewers find the show to be such an insightful, seat-gripping experience?
With hit series such as Netflix’s Money Heist receiving global popularity, the Desi twist of professional counterfeiting has viewers coming back for more.
The unique take on fraud has seemed to have taken fans by surprise as it has bought a fresh breath of air in the OTT space.
On his Instagram account, Shahid also shared the wonderful news.
He showed a viewing graph that highlighted several other well-liked Amazon Prime series.
Shahid Kapoor was thrilled to hear the news as he wrote:
“Farzi Fever. Thank you all so much.”
The crime-thriller series features an original storyline and idea.
It is about an artist named Sunny (Shahid), who becomes disillusioned by the income inequality in India after failing to keep his grandfather’s revolutionary printing press in business.
Sunny decides to team up with his best friend Firoz (Bhuvan Arora) to make counterfeit money.
But along the way, they face challenges from gangster Mansoor Dalal (Kay Kay Menon) and Special Task Force officer Michael Vedanayagam (Vijay Sethupathi).
Since its release on February 10, 2023, the series has been praised for both its content and performances, taking on a topic like counterfeiting.
Aside from the action-packed cinematography, gripping storyline and faultless acting, Farzi’s success can be attributed to its bravery to highlight a topic largely unexplored by the Indian OTT space.
Like Shahid Kapoor, other Bollywood stars have ventured into web series.
The likes of Saif Ali Khan, Manoj Bajpayee and Sushmita Sen have all made their mark.
Therefore, the success of Farzi cannot be solely attributed to Shahid Kapoor taking centre stage in the action.
