"One should not be this blind. She says anything."
Diljit Dosanjh has become embroiled in a war of words with Kangana Ranaut following her tweet over the farmers’ protest.
In a now-deleted tweet, Kangana had misidentified an elderly woman as Bilkis Bano, commonly known as the ‘Dadi of Shaheen Bagh’.
The actress claimed that Bano was being paid Rs. 100 (£1) to take part in the ongoing protest.
However, the woman was actually Mahinder Kaur.
This prompted Diljit to criticise her and say that she is someone who “says anything”.
He shared a clip of a BBC interview with Mahinder and stated that he was showing her the proof.
Diljit captioned his tweet: “Listen to this proof, Kangana Ranaut. One should not be this blind. She says anything.”
In the clip, Mahinder and her friends challenged the actress to come and work in the fields for a day to know what farmers go through.
One woman in the video says: “We will give her Rs. 100 in the evening.”
Respected MAHINDER KAUR JI ??

However, Kangana fired back at Diljit Dosanjh, calling him “Karan Johar’s lackey”.
She tweeted: “The same dadi who was protesting for her citizenship at Shaheen Bagh, Bilkis Bano, was also protesting with the farmers.
“I have no idea who Mahinder Kaur is, so stop creating unnecessary drama. Stop this right now.”
Diljit responded: “These people are not from Bollywood. They belong to Punjab. You can say whatever you like but we won’t be perturbed.
“You are well-versed in lying and manipulating people’s emotions.”
Although Kangana deleted her ‘fake’ tweet, she received a legal notice.
Advocate Harkham Singh said that Kangana should have verified the information before posting it on social media and demanded an apology.
The notice said: “It is to inform you that the said lady is not a fake lady.
“Her name is Mahinder Kaur and she belongs to Bathinda. She is the wife of farmer Labh Singh Nambardar.
“She in her life has always remained connected with fields and filed work and she is the wife of a farmer.”
On December 2, 2020, Mr Singh said: “I sent a legal notice for a tweet misidentifying Ms Mahinder Kaur as Bilkis Bano with an insinuation that she (Ms Kaur) was available as a hired protester for Rs. 100.
“The notice gives Ranaut seven days to issue an apology failing which a defamation case will be pursued.”
He added that Kangana’s remarks not only “degraded the image of each lady and each person” but also were hugely disrespectful to the protesting farmers.
