"God has blessed me with a best friend, a companion and a life partner."
Episode one of Desi Rascals Series 2 was highly anticipated given all of the exciting announcements and activity of the past few weeks.
In Jasmin Walia’s Desi Rascals debut, how will she, and her boyfriend Ross, fit into the West London Desi mix?
Solomon Akhtar has been promising to chase after the pretty girls and put ‘The Big Bad Wolf’ Owais in his place. What will happen when they first meet?
And Anj has had his Islamic Nikaah ceremony. But the identity of his bride is still a mystery. Who is she?
Anj weds Wajma
Anj unveils his mystery bride, the beautiful Wajma, at their wedding party.
Both Anj and his bride look regal as they enter the hall. Wajma is dressed in a long delicately patterned crimson dress and Anj in a gold Sherwani.
It would not be a Desi Wedding Party without the blasting dhols vibe, and the colourfully dressed family and friends, watching on proudly.
Proudest of all is Uncle Nuss. He has seen his nephew, who has treated as a son, mature into a real man.
As well as maturity and muscles, Anj also possesses the gift of the gab. He addresses the guests with a wonderfully sentimental speech.
At the end, he turns to his wife, Wajma, and says: “God has blessed me with a best friend, a companion and a life partner. Thank you for making my life so special.”
The contagious Bhangra beat infects the party and Team Owais tear it up on the dance floor.
It’s the first time we see new Team Owais member Jason Lowe, who ‘dances alright for a white guy’ according to Anj.
Step aside Solly, it’s all about Adam
‘The Desi Dog’ Solomon Akhtar has been boasting how he will be the new Alpha Male instead of Owais.
But in their first encounter, although a little awkward, each of them are as nice as pie. Seems like we will have to wait for the rivalry then.
Solomon’s friend Adam Michaelidies might be the one to bring the drama. He is hosting a pool party, which is the must have ticket in Desi Town.
It’s just another day for Adam and Solomon, who are cruising around West London’s suburban boulevards in their Ferrari.
He says: “We don’t have time to go to the gym. We’re too busy making money.” How about that for your opening line on TV?
During the broadcast of episode 1, Adam tweeted: “This guy @OwaisKhan is 36 and has nothing to show for it #aww #owaistman.”
Yasmin and Kavita fall out over Adam
Yasmin and Kavita have replaced Arshina with Feryal in their little gang.
These days, Yasmin is always accompanied by her ‘sooo cute’ Executive Assistant George Pigott.
Kavita and Feryal are ready to go the pool party of new boy Adam. Apparently Yasmin is a close friend of Adam: “I’ve known Adam for absolutely years. His sister’s one of my bestest friends.”
To which Kavita responds:
“So how come you’re not invited, and we are?”
Adam and Kavita indulge in some flirting and selfie-taking at the pool. And Yasmin, who has already been denied an invite, is not happy at their budding friendship.
As Feryal stirs the pot, Yasmin takes out her frustration on Kavita by unleashing some of the best one liners in Desi Rascals history.
Yasmin calls Kavita ‘shadey and dodgey’ and a ‘two faced cow’. That makes most of the backbiting in Series 1 seem remarkably tame.
Jasmin Walia makes her Desi Rascals debut
The arrival of reality TV star Jasmin to Desi Rascals has been highly anticipated and many viewers are intrigued to see how she will fare on the show.
It seems like she has already become good friends with Rita. The two of them bond over a poolside chat at Adam’s party.
They look stunning in their bikinis. Make no mistake about it, Desi men from all over the land will have had their tongues hanging out. And perhaps a few eye balls popping out of their sockets.
Later, at Anj and Wajma’s Wedding Party, Jasmin shares vividly about her own dream wedding plans. (You can read about it in more detail here).
Ross has not even proposed to her yet. But that will not stop us from dreaming about another Shaadi on Desi Rascals.
The End of #MoJo?
The broadcast begins with highlights of Series 1, showing flashbacks of MoJo’s whirlwind romance.
So it is a complete shock to see our favourite Desi couple talking about breaking up in the first scene.
Jo is clearly upset at Moses for not putting in enough effort and treating her as his ‘Bollywood princess’.
To make matters worse, Jo has a rotten day after failing an audition. She is on the receiving end of a verbal pounding, which even a hug from Nat and the Shahdashians cannot fix.
Seeing Anj and Wajma in marriage bliss cuts up Jo even more. Moses has not really tried hard enough to make things right with Jo so far.
But he asks for one last chance: “I want to prove it to you Jo. So can I take you out tomorrow?”
The show ends on this cliff hanger. Will #MoJo live to fight another day? Or will Jo cut her losses and move on?
