"I've been hit really badly."

Vaishnavi Dhanraj accused her close family members of abusing and assaulting her.

The CID actress shared a video of herself sharing the allegations and pleading with fans to help.

She said: “Hi this is Vaishnavi Dhanraj. I’m talking through Himanshu Shukla.

“I really need help right now. I’m in Kashimira police station.

“I have been abused by my family. I’ve been hit really badly.

“Please I need everybody’s help right from media, and news channels to everybody in the industry. Please come and help me.”

Throughout the video, Vaishnavi showed several signs of injury.

This included a cut lip, a cut on her wrist and a few bruises.

Viewers were shocked by the video and Vaishnavi’s allegations, with one saying:

“Vaishnavi Dhanraj is a very well-known actress and look what her family did to her.”

After she filed a complaint at Kashimira Police Station in Thane, officers registered a non-cognisable case against her mother and brother.

In a non-cognisable case, police cannot initiate an investigation or make an arrest unless there is a court order to that effect.

Vaishnavi began her acting career in 2008, making a cameo in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. In the same year, she featured in Karam Apnaa Apnaa.

In 2009, Vaishnavi joined CID as Inspector Tasha Kumar and remained on the show for a year.

She took a brief acting break after getting married to Indian actor Nitin Sahrawat.

Vaishnavi returned to acting with Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi.

In 2015, she gained popularity in Begusarai, playing Maya Mithlesh Thakur.

Fans also saw her in Mahabharat, Kitchen Champion 4, India’s Got Talent, Crime Patrol, Hum Ne Li Hai-Shapath and Fear Files.

The actress was last seen in Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal.

Vaishnavi and Nitin Sahrawat filed for legal separation in July 2015. They were divorced in January 2016, opting for a mutual and amicable divorce in Bandra family court.

Emotional disconnect was cited as the reason for the divorce.

But in December 2016, media outlets claimed that there were numerous incidents of domestic violence.

According to the claims, Vaishnavi tried to save their marriage by seeking professional help but her efforts were unsuccessful.

BollywoodLife claimed Vaishnavi said she feared being killed.

“One morning, it became very bad. I got so scared that I ran away from the house. He had beaten me so badly that my leg was bleeding.

“That was my last day as his wife – emotionally, physically and mentally. I eventually got a divorce in January, this year.

“He would say: ‘You deserve it’. He was not sorry about it. He would make up in some other manner but never with an apology.

“I see many marriages shrouded in domestic violence, couples stay together for their kids or society – but I eventually decided that I can’t remain in a marriage devoid of love and respect.”
