New details about the Shraddha Walkar have come to light after the Delhi Police filed a 6,629-page chargesheet.
In the chargesheet, new allegations have been made against the main suspect and Shraddha’s live-in boyfriend, Aftab Poonawala.
The new chargesheet claims that Aftab Poonawala killed Shraddha Walkar in a fit of fury because he was upset that she had gone to meet a friend.
The Delhi Police has revealed that Shraddha Walkar had gone to meet another friend which Aftab Poonawala didn’t like.
As a result, he became violent.
Joint Commissioner of Police in South India, Meenu Chaudhary said:
“On the day of the incident, Walkar had gone to meet one of her friends, which Poonawala did not like.
“After which he became violent and the incident happened.”
Soon after the Delhi Police chargesheet was released, Shraddha Walkar’s father Vikar Walkar stated his grievances with the suspect.
Vikar Walkar believes that Aftab Poonawala should suffer the same fate as his daughter.
Speaking to the media, Shraddha’s father said that Aftab Poonawala should be treated the same way as his daughter, and his body should also be chopped into several pieces.
On December 23, 2022, the court allowed the Delhi Police’s plea to seek permission to obtain a voice sample from Aftab.
Sources said Delhi Police had some videos and audio related to the case.
Delhi Police wanted to obtain a voice sample of Aftab to examine case evidence.
On January 4, 2023, the police said samples of hair recovered by forensics matched Shraddha’s DNA.
The police have also mentioned in the chargesheet and a DNA report that the bones found by forensics in the forest confirmed that they belonged to Shraddha Walkar.
According to sources, legal experts are looking into the chargesheet draft prepared by Delhi Police.
As per media reports, the Saket Court is most likely to accept the charge sheet on February 7, 2023.
The court has currently extended Aftab Poonawala’s judicial custody for an additional two weeks, until the agreed February 7 court date.
On May 18, 2022, accused Aftab Poonawalla was accused of strangling Shraddha Walkar to death in their Mehrauli apartment in Delhi and then chopping her body into 35 pieces.
He allegedly stored her remains in a fridge and disposed of them in the forests of Mehrauli, not far from their home.
