Bollywood fashionistas graced the catwalk in lavish outfits which left the audience mesmerised at India Couture Week (ICW) which took place from July 22 to July 28, 2019, in New Delhi, India.

The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) event saw ten fashion designers reinvent fashion with modern thinking.

Despite the omission of renowned designers Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Rohit Bal, Manish Malhotra and so on, newer designers were given the chance to showcase their craftsmanship.

In particular, Nidhi and Pankaj debuted their first couture line at the event.

Also, Tarun Tahiliani, Amit Aggarwal and Suneet Varma offered a new perspective.

FDCI President, Sunil Sethi commenting on the ICW 2019 stated:

“The three designers will offer a new perspective to design through their rich offerings which display the mindset of new-age occasion dressing.”

“We hope to cross new milestones by enabling futuristic thinking as influential storytellers curate culturally significant ensembles.”

Designs encompassed new fabrics and embellishment styles that highlighted the inclusivity of fashion.

Bollywood stars that who made jaws drop were none other than Kriti Sanon, Kiara Advani, Malaika Arora, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh.

Kabir Singh actress, Kiara Advani was a showstopper for designer Amit Aggarwal during India Couture Week.

His Lumen collection graced the opening show of the week.

Kiara Advani wore an exceptional red bridal lehenga which was created from recycled material.

This eco-friendly beauty was fashioned with intricate sequenced red embroidery.

The low-cut top with a sharp v-shaped neckline complements the extravagant design of the skirt.

In this instance, the skirt Is fashioned with a soft and flowy flare.

Also, the elaborate leaf-like detail elevated across her torso to her shoulder is the ultimate focal point of this attire.

Moreover, the look is skilfully paired with a contrasting emerald green statement necklace.

This fusion of prominent colours accentuates how simple it can be to play with colours.

Malaika Arora donned an extravagant cultural design by designer Sulakshana Monga.

Sara Ali Khan made her runway debut at India Couture Week wearing Falguni and Shane Peacock’s Bonjour Ajmer collection.

She looked sensational in a heavily embellished, silver lining lehenga with stunning sequence detailing.

The two-piece monochrome design involved a fitted, long sleeve top which stands out from an array of short sleeve designs.

The full-length, ample skirt encompasses a panel design throughout and large border at the hemline.

Additionally, the statement piece at the waist captures attention.

The look was completed with voluminous beach waves and minimal jewellery as she powered down the ramp.

Rakul Preet Singh

Bollywood beauty, Rakul Preet Singh walked the ramp for designers Reynu Taandon.

This lehenga design is exquisite for its mirror work.

The simplistic blush pink colour complements the blue and gold design.

Furthermore, the spectacular panelled skirt allows for a structured fit, fastened with decorative tasselled strings.

Her makeup was kept to a minimum while her chandelier earrings heightened the alluring look.

Also, her sleeked back straight hair added to the attraction of her outfit.

Kriti Sanon displayed a stunning creation from designer duo Shyamal and Bhumika to close the India Couture Week show.

This beautiful lehenga was from their latest collection, which was evidently inspired by the Renaissance period.

The outfit comprises of a blouse, skirt and dupatta.

The one-shoulder blouse was created with sequenced detailing and a bouffant sleeve.

Victorian sleeves and floral detailing are the new chic.

While her hair lay effortlessly on her opposing shoulder.

Also, the attire was designed with pastel colours ideal for a spring/summer bride.

The skirt entails intricate thread work and hints of sequences and pearls to enhance the design as well as a modest tail.

Also, the dupatta has the same design as that on the skirt.

Furthermore, the look was paired with statement jewellery for a bolder appearance.

In fact, the combination of old mixed with new creates a perfect ensemble.

The 12th edition of the event featured numerous designers wearing exceptional creations. The India Couture Week 2019 certainly witnessed artistic renditions of the new concept: modern luxury.
