Sonali Phogat has been in politics for around 15 years. She turned to politics after becoming inspired by the former Lok Sabha speaker, Sumitra Mahajan.
Sonali came into the political limelight when she contested the assembly elections in 2018 against Kuldeep Bishnoi, the song of former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal.
Although she lost the election, she attracted a lot of attention.
On Bigg Boss 14, Sonali failed to make a mark on the show.
However, viewers got to see different sides to her.
On the show, she claimed to have a crush on Aly Goni while she fought with other contestants such as Nikki Tamboli.
The showdown saw Sonali push Nikki and a war of words between the pair.
This was not the only controversial incident involving Sonali.
During the election campaign, Sonali chanted ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’, however, no one reacted.
When some people started mocking her, she said that those who were not making an effort were Pakistani.
This prompted a lot of backlash, something Sonali said she regretted.
In 2020, Sonali was seen hitting Sultan Singh, secretary of the Hisar market committee, with a slipper.
A video of the incident went viral and it led to her arrest. She was later released on bail.
Sonali Phogat is the headlines once again after a new song was released.
It is a Haryani song called ‘Afeem’, which translates to ‘Opium’.
After the song’s release, it went viral, with many people praising Sonali’s look in the music video. The song is sung by Haryani singer Raj Mawar.
While the investigation in relation to vulgar messages is ongoing, it is suspected that the messages may be in relation to the song.
