"These days, brides and grooms are very particular about their looks."
The Wedding Atelier 2018 was a two-day expo which came to a close on Thursday, October 4, 2018, in Karachi and showcased the latest bridal trends for all brides-to-be.
The highlight for this spectacular bridal event was the participation of Pakistani model and actress, Ayeza Khan.
The event was organised by Sara Chapra of Carbon Events and the event acted as the ultimate luxury wedding guide.
Winter in Pakistan is the season of weddings and parties. The Fashion Council Pakistan also dedicates its recent fashion week for winter.
They called it ‘Fashion Pakistan Week Winter/Festive 2018’ and this is where the idea for a bridal fashion event arrived.
The organisers collaborated with Fashion Pakistan Week with an idea of ‘Bridal Trend Forecast Vision 2020’ and came up with The Wedding Atelier 2018.
Fashion Pakistan Week is the leading fashion event in the country with many top designers presenting their latest designs.
Guests applauded the event, which was hosted at the Pearl Continental Hotel.
Bridal events are always very popular as they provide couples with many ideas for their wedding day.
The event also gave future husbands and wives to receive recommendations and inside knowledge from professionals of the sector.
Couples were presented with more than 25 categories relating to the wedding industry.
These include beauty, jewellery design, invite options, wedding décor, bridal apparel, interior designing, wedding photography, wedding PR and many more.
Discussing her idea of putting up such an event, Sara Chapra said:
“Through this grand wedding show, the idea was to break boundaries by providing wedding essentials and interactive sessions all under one roof.”
More than one hundred artisans and industry experts attended the event.
They include Natasha’s Salon, Kiran Fine Jewellery, RAKA Events and Private Collection to name a few.
The centrepieces of the event were the bridal wear designs and the creators behind them attended.
Sana Safinaz, Nida Azwer, Zainab Chottani were just a few designers showing off their newest bridal pieces.
Their wedding collections in the past have been showcased by renowned models who have walked the ramp.
An unexpected fashion segment by Ansab Jahangir featured models Michelle, Misbah and Anisa in stunning regal ensembles.
Each outfit was completely different from one another to suit different preferences of future brides.
One outfit was a contrasting dark and light coloured gown which was brightly patterned and covered in gold detail.
Another stunning piece by Ansab was a silver-coloured long-sleeved garment which was elevated by the sparkling decorations.
The highlight of the two-day event was Ayeza Khan, who was the centre of attention for the female wear for the event.
Her outfit at the 2018 Wedding Atelier was the star of the whole event as it was a beautiful red piece adorned with gold embellishments.
The bright regal red provided the perfect backdrop to the detailed gold sequencing.
Her bridal outfit was one which guests would remember as part of the collection by Ansab Jahangir.
While explaining the interests of brides, Ayeza stated that every bride wants to look unique and gorgeous on her wedding day.
Traditionally in the South Asian subcontinent, brides are expected to wear red but latest designs have pastel shades paired up in their designs.
My Big Fat Karachi Wedding
This was the most exciting part of day two as organisers of the event brought all the wedding industry to decide on one lucky couple.

The winning couple will have everything they need for their upcoming wedding complementary.
From the outfits of the bride and groom, jewellery, saloons and even the wedding event arrangement. They will be provided everything to ensure that their day is one to remember.
The Wedding Atelier showed the change in how people prepare for weddings as Sara explained.
She said: “Gone are the days when parents used to do the preparation for their children’s weddings.”
“These days, brides and grooms are very particular about their looks, they decide everything by themselves at their weddings.”
“They can get many new ideas from here to make their day more special.”
