"I was feeling so sleazy, I can’t tell you."
Amrita Rao and her husband RJ Anmol opened up about keeping their relationship quiet for many years.
During a conversation on their YouTube channel, the pair recalled a secret hotel tryst during Holi that went wrong.
The incident took place more than 10 years ago.
Amrita wanted to try bhang, an edible preparation made from the leaves of the cannabis plant that is usually added to drinks, for the first time.
She and Anmol then decided to check into a hotel.
Amrita used a dupatta to cover her face and she snuck into the hotel to prevent anyone from recognising her.
Once in their room, Anmol quickly finished his drink while Amrita hardly touched her glass because she did not like the taste.
When he did not feel any after-effects, Anmol downed Amrita’s drink as well. He later fell asleep.
But when Anmol woke up, his “body felt lifeless”.
Anmol asked Amrita to help him up, telling her that his heart was beating very fast.
He tried to eat something but could not swallow the food.
At this point, he made her call his doctor, who advised him to drink plenty of water and try to throw up.
But when this was to no avail, the doctor said he was severely dehydrated and told him to go to hospital.
Because the couple did not want their relationship to become public at the time, Anmol left by himself. He asked his sister Ankita Sood to pick Amrita up.
On the incident, Amrita Rao said: “I was feeling so sleazy, I can’t tell you.
“I was like, ‘My God, I am stuck in a hotel room all alone.’ Anmol wasn’t there, he had to go to the hospital.”
Amrita also revealed that she received a call from hotel reception. Staff said they were “very suspicious” about what happened to Anmol.
But, Amrita came up with an excuse.
Ankita then arrived. Amrita elaborated:
“I felt really conscious that she has caught me like this in this hotel room.”
“I didn’t even do anything. As they say, I didn’t buy anything but ended up paying for a glass I accidentally broke.”
In the video, Anmol explained that somehow, he flagged down an autorickshaw and made his way to the hospital where he was put on an IV drip.
He said that he had to lie to his parents, claiming that he was staying at a friend’s house.
Amrita and Anmol began dating in 2009 and got married in 2016. The pair have a son named Veer.
