"I’ve been on antibiotics for over 50 days now."

Alaya F has shared that she was diagnosed with SIBO just one day before finishing her second 75 Hard challenge.

The actress is widely admired for her commitment to fitness and often inspires South Asian audiences to prioritise wellbeing.

She had been documenting her journey online, offering glimpses into her disciplined routine and lifestyle habits.

However, she revealed that most of the challenge was overshadowed by a persistent and confusing illness.

Her announcement surprised fans who regularly see her toned physique and energetic workouts.

In a video shared on social media, Alaya said it was day 74 of her 75 Hard, and she felt compelled to open up.

She explained, “It’s day 74 of my 75 Hard of the year. I’m at the finish line. But today, instead of showing you guys progress photos, I actually have a personal story to tell you.”

She said her stomach usually appears toned in her posts, but added, “For most of this 75 Hard, my stomach has actually looked like this.”

She revealed she had been dealing with unexplained symptoms for nearly three months.

She described the frustration of not being able to identify the cause despite multiple checks.

Alaya said the issue was finally diagnosed as a severe case of SIBO.

She explained, “It turned out to be a severe case of something called SIBO, which causes constant bloating, terrible fatigue, inflammation, nutrient malabsorption, slow muscle recovery, low strength and brain fog.”

She said the condition made this round extremely challenging.

She also revealed, “I’ve been on antibiotics for over 50 days now. It’s safe to say that this 75 Hard was completely different from the last time I did it.”

Comparing her two experiences, Alaya noted how her relationship with fitness evolved.

She added that previously she could see her body “sculpt and transform”, but this time she only saw symptoms.

She said she once kept adding habits, intensity and structure.

This time, completing the basic requirements had to be enough for her.

Alaya said the challenge taught her a life-changing lesson about consistency and self-acceptance.

She explained, “I realised that it’s super easy to feel proud when everything looks great, but it’s truly life-changing to feel proud when nothing looks great.”

She concluded that discipline is never about intensity and always about consistency.

SIBO, or Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth, occurs when bacteria multiply excessively in the small intestine.

It can cause bloating, gas, diarrhoea and abdominal pain, making everyday activities uncomfortable.

Several factors can lead to SIBO, including low stomach acid, structural issues in the small intestine and certain medications.

The condition often requires a medical diagnosis due to its wide range of symptoms that resemble other digestive concerns.

Treatment usually involves antibiotics, dietary adjustments and lifestyle monitoring.

Early diagnosis can prevent the symptoms from worsening and improve the quality of life.

The 75 Hard programme itself is known for its strict routine and focus on mental toughness.

The challenge runs for 75 days and requires participants to follow a clean diet without alcohol or cheat meals.

It includes two 45-minute workouts daily, including one session outdoors regardless of the weather.

Participants must also drink four litres of water and read ten pages of a self-improvement or educational book.

Anyone who breaks a rule must restart from day one. The structure is intense, making physical and mental consistency essential.
