Aftab Iqbal hit back at Sohail Ahmed’s remarks, where he described the former as “arrogant”.
A few years ago, Aftab Iqbal initiated his show in collaboration with Sohail Ahmed.
Demonstrating his talent, Sohail notably portrayed the character ‘Azizi’ in the acclaimed show Hasb-e-Haal.
Recently, Sohail appeared as a guest on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast where he spoke about Aftab.
He expressed his regard for Aftab Iqbal akin to that of a younger brother and offered him advice on being humble.
Stressing the collaborative nature of show-running, he emphasised the importance of respecting the entire team.
Addressing various assertions made by Aftab Iqbal over time, he noted his pre-existing stardom before joining Hasb-e-Haal.
Yet underscored his commitment to giving his all and respecting his colleagues.
Hence, he urged Aftab to recognise that mutual respect cannot be attained if one adopts a disrespectful attitude.
Aftab Iqbal has responded to Sohail Ahmed’s remarks by stating that he was initially camera-shy.
However, he had a background as a columnist before embarking on Hasb-e-Haal, a show he had conceptualised at the time.
He praised Sohail’s talents, emphasising the integral role of a good writer and director in shaping an actor’s performance.
He reiterated his respect for Sohail’s skill, noting the scarcity of exceptional talents across various fields in the country.
Aftab further disclosed that he had proposed to Sohail Ahmed the idea of incorporating more comedians into the show.
This was despite initial reluctance from Sohail Ahmed to expand the cast.
Eventually, Sohail Ahmed implemented all the suggestions made by Aftab for Hasb-e-Haal.
Aftab also addressed Sohail Ahmed’s invitation to confront him, asserting that he is open to dialogue at any time.
He disclosed that he extended multiple invitations to Sohail to appear on his show. But he declined without disclosing the reasons behind his decision.
Aftab concluded his response by deeming all the criticism as unwarranted.
