"Aamir would hold the screening for Tom Hanks"
As the release date of Laal Singh Chaddha draws closer, Aamir Khan reportedly wants to host a special screening for Tom Hanks.
The film is a remake of the Hollywood classic Forrest Gump and it has attracted a lot of attention since the trailer was released.
It is set to release on August 11, 2022.
Nearer to the release date, Aamir Khan will reportedly host a special screening for Tom Hanks.
A source said the screening will happen outside India.
The source said: “Aamir Khan is planning to keep a special screening for Tom Hanks closer to Laal Singh Chaddha’s release.
“There is a buzz that closer to the release of Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir would hold the screening for Tom Hanks in the US or travel there to personally show him the film.
“It is because he wants Tom Hanks to watch Laal Singh Chaddha and share his thoughts.”
Speaking about his upcoming film, Aamir revealed he has always been fascinated with Forrest Gump.
He said: “I have always loved Forrest Gump as a script.
“It is a wonderful story about this character. It is a life-affirming story. It is a feel-good film. It is a film for the whole family.”
Aamir also said that he is curious to see Tom Hanks’ reaction to the upcoming remake.
“Forrest Gump is an iconic film. I am very curious to see how Tom Hanks reacts after watching the film.”
“He is a wonderful actor.”
Aamir Khan and Tom Hanks previously met during a meeting with Steven Spielberg.
At the time, Steven Spielberg was filming with Tom Hanks.
Steven Spielberg introduced the Bollywood actor to Tom and referred to him as the “James Cameron of India” because he is known for breaking box office records.
Tom Hanks said he knew of Aamir and was familiar with his work, revealing that he has seen 3 Idiots several times.
While Aamir is curious to see Tom Hanks’ reaction to Laal Singh Chaddha, social media users reacted unfavourably to the trailer.
Much of the criticism pointed to the fact that Laal Singh Chaddha is not an original story but a remake of a successful Hollywood film.
Others criticised Aamir’s “caricaturist” portrayal of a differently-abled person.
Laal Singh Chaddha also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh and Chaitanya Akkineni.
