Reports claim that the girl died immediately after her mother first threw her off the balcony.

A 7-year-old Indian girl has died after her mother threw her off a balcony, killing her. The incident took place in a town located in Bangalore.

Witnesses claim that they saw the woman, identified as Swathi Sarkar, throw her child off the balcony from a four-storey building twice.

Afterwards, a group of locals chased her and tied the mother up to a lamp post, using electrical cable. Police eventually arrested the Indian woman on suspicion of murder.

They took her to a nearby police station to interrogate Swathi Sarkar on the incident. She claimed that her daughter was mentally unstable.

The mother also added that she had planned to take her own life after killing the 7-year-old girl.

Now authorities have released more details on the woman and her child. They revealed that the 7-year-old Indian girl suffered from speech development issues and had not been enrolled into a school.

She lived with just her mother after her parents separated. Police also added that the child’s father would visit once a month to give money to her mother. They also suspect the Indian woman of having mental health issues.

The 7-year-old’s father has also reportedly spoken on the incident. He claimed that Swathi Sarkar would often develop rages.

Neighbours have also revealed more on what they witnessed during the incident. They added that the Indian woman picked up her child and carried her back upstairs. She then again threw her child.

One witness reportedly explained:

“I was sleeping when I heard a huge noise around 3.30pm, and I ran out to see what had happened. I noticed [the mother], clad in a nightie, holding her daughter who was bleeding profusely.

“The child was crying and writhing in pain. I asked [her] what had happened. She shouted at me and ran towards the terrace and threw the girl to the ground.”

Afterwards, the woman attempted to flee from the area, which prompted locals to chase her.

As the police have now arrested the Indian mother, they will continue their investigations into the child’s death.
