US President Donald Trump has suggested giving artificial intelligence (AI) a new name, calling it “Super Intelligence” during a recent speech.
Trump said the word “artificial” could make the technology sound fake, despite its growing capabilities and influence.
He said: “The use of the word artificial makes it sound fake.
“It’s not fake, it’s actually amazing. But we have to be careful.”
He then welcomed what he called the “new world of super intelligence”, referring to it as “SI”.
Trump has repeatedly highlighted AI as an important area of global competition and has previously argued that whoever “wins” AI could gain a significant advantage.
His comments come amid continuing international discussions about how rapidly developing AI technology should be managed and regulated.
