"His wife walks in and catches him naked"
Filmmaker Vishal Punjabi shared an incident involving a prominent Bollywood actor who cheated on his wife just two months after their marriage.
The revelation came during his appearance on DJ Simz’s YouTube channel.
Vishal Punjabi is known as ‘The Wedding Filmer’ for capturing high-profile celebrity weddings.
During the interview on the DJ Simz YouTube channel, Vishal was asked if he had ever filmed a wedding that was later rendered unnecessary due to a separation or divorce.
Vishal responded: “That happened with a celebrity.
“Two months after their wedding, he was cheating on her.
“He was caught red-handed with this Bollywood actress in his makeup van, on a Bollywood set.
“His wife walks in and catches him naked, and says, ‘I don’t want your wedding film’.
“I’m calling the groom, he’s not picking up.
“I’m calling up the bride, she’s like, ‘Don’t talk to me, I don’t want the wedding film!’
“So then, I call up his manager, and he’s like, ‘Bro, man, it’s not happening, we don’t want the film’. I was like, ‘What do I do? Do I sell it to Netflix?’”
Vishal went on to say that in the film, the crying groom said: “I love you, baby.”
However, the filmmaker called them “crocodile tears”.
Vishal Punjabi also mentioned that he had not been fully paid for his services, which led to a change in his business practices.
He revealed that he still has the footage but did not pursue them for the outstanding payment.
Previously, Vishal’s contracts required 50% payment upfront and 50% upon delivery of the film.
But after this incident, he recognised the emotional and unpredictable nature of weddings and decided to require 100% payment before filming began.
Vishal Punjabi has captured weddings for celebrity couples including Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, and Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra.
He has also spent 10 years working with Shah Rukh Khan at Red Chillies Entertainment.
While discussing about Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s wedding, he said:
“Fifty people in Como is doable. That’s what Virat Kohli did. Cricket is a religion in India, and he’s a God. He and Anushka got married in Tuscany. It was really beautiful.
“The closest family and friends, only 40 of them, including mum, dad, makeup artists and us… They smashed the wedding.
“It was the most beautiful wedding ever.
“No one troubled them. It was like someone had put a bubble around that place, and they could just be. They had the most magical wedding ever.
“As I was checking in, Barack Obama was checking out; it was a really cool and exclusive and beautiful property.”
