Comedian Vir Das set up a fun scavenger hunt after he hid a gold bottle of champagne in London’s Regent’s Park.

He was gifted the expensive bottle after he was nominated for an International Emmy for his Netflix comedy Vir Das: For India.

But instead of enjoying it, Vir decided to give it away in a unique way before leaving London for New York.

The comedian told fans on Twitter on Monday, September 27, 2021:

“I got nominated for something and when you do, people send you free s**t.

“This huge-ass bottle of champagne or whatever it is.

“It’s weird that they send free s**t to people who can afford it but it is a good moment in my life.

“I’m leaving London tomorrow and I don’t drink that much so here I am in Regent’s Park.”

He then shows where he has hidden the bottle, placing it next to a bench.

Vir adds: “If you find it, I hope you have a drink and I hope it does something good for you.”

He then follows up with a picture of the bench along with a handwritten letter.

The ‘treasure’ hunt did not take long as the champagne was found just 45 minutes after Vir posted the tweet.

A person called Yash messaged Vir, sending pictures of himself with the bottle and saying that he had cycled 2.2 miles in 16 minutes.

Vir said: “That was quick. Well done Yash.”

An earlier post from the comedian revealed how the treasure hunt had been successful for people in other ways when he shared a message he had received.

It read: “Hey! Thanks to your little scavenger hunt a bunch of six strangers came to Regent’s Park looking for a stupid alcohol bottle but left with new friends.

“I am new to this city and you gave me five new friends today.”

“We didn’t get the bottle but we went out for drinks. Thank you.”

It comes after Vir Das took to social media to ask aspiring designers to dress him for the awards ceremony which was held on Monday, September 20, 2021.

Meanwhile, Nawazuddin Siddiqui was nominated for an Emmy for Best Performance by an Actor for his performance in the Netflix film Serious Men.

Sushmita Sen’s crime-thriller series Aarya was also nominated for Best Drama Series.
