The video has circulated on social media, with many commenting on the scandal.

Umar has now responded, stating that the video has been “doctored”.

He took to Twitter and wrote:

“This is no politics. In fact a new low!! By launching a fake and doctored video against me.

Umar’s response sparked a new controversy, with netizens, journalists and politicians expressing anger.

Many social media users felt that Umar was lying, stating that his response was a sign that the video was real.

Others believed that the intimate video looked too real to be edited footage.

The leaked video was linked with Avari Towers, which prompted the company to release a statement.

The company said: “The Avari family, Avari Hotels, its executives and team members wish to clarify that there are no hidden cameras placed in the rooms in their direct or indirect knowledge.

“If something was caught by an in-room camera, it was illegally placed, unknown to us and does not have our consent.”

Focal Person to Chief Minister Punjab Azhar Mashwani said the leak was a job within the party, mentioning ‘Maryam Leaks Productions’.

The comment was in reference to the PML-N’s vice president Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Sharif’s name has been associated with the scandal as many believe she is behind the leaked video after Umar failed to make a deal with the establishment.

Netizens have reacted to the possibility that Sharif may be responsible.

One person said: “Maryam Nawaz often threatens to leak videos in her speeches and today she leaked videos of the former governor Zubair Umar of her own party.”

Another netizen posted:

One user said: “Has Maryam Nawaz leaked private and shameful videos of Muhammad Zubair Umar?

“Putting aside political differences, leaked videos of Zubair Umar is a shameful and condemnable act.”

“It should be an eye-opener for Zubair Umar and recognise his true enemies. No one has the right to leak such stuff!”

One netizen believed that Maryam Nawaz Sharif was responsible, pointing out that she tweeted an apology to Umar on the day of the video leak.

The matter has raised a lot of questions as to whether the video was legitimate or not and who was responsible for leaking it.
