"I'm too old to cater to your hypocrisy"
Ushna Shah, who is currently in Spain with her husband, has made headlines for calling Pakistanis “hypocrites”.
She posted glimpses of her travels wearing outfits that triggered her fans.
Some fans pointed out Ushna’s penchant for daring outfits during international trips.
Responding to the criticism, Ushna Shah took to social media to address the backlash.
She denounced what she perceives as hypocrisy among her Pakistani critics.
Taking to X, the actress wrote:
“A girl from a liberal background, who grew up in Canada and wore shorts etc with her friends is now married to a white man who is from a similar background and doesn’t care if she shows her legs when they’re abroad… and her Pakistani audience loses their minds.
“The biggest mistake l ever made was apologising for wearing a red choli on my wedding and dancing, to the same people who will drool over the Nargis Fakhris of the world (also Pakistani, also Muslim) but will annihilate us for having a liberal upbringing that differs from theirs.
“I’m in my ‘over it’ era.
“Go watch some item numbers and keep searching for po*n, I’m too old to cater to your hypocrisy, I choose to live my life and be happy.”
However, Ushna Shah’s response did not sit well with many netizens, who viewed her remarks as divisive.
Criticism mounted as users accused her of projecting a dual identity.

They accused her of embracing Western values while catering to a conservative Pakistani audience through her acting endeavours.
A user wrote: “I am quite confused about her claims to be a liberal girl because her acting projects are purely for the Pakistani audiences.”
One questioned: “If you were from a liberal background then why did you come here and earn money?
“Cause in Canada no one will give a s**t about you.
“You earn your bread and butter here. Instead of respecting the people that help you build your career, you are taunting them.”

Netizens also criticised her for using Nargis Fakhri’s name and seemingly tearing down another female figure to prop up her own stance.
One commented:
“I was okay with her post until she mentioned Nargis Fakhri in a belittling way.”
Another said: “You were making a good point until ‘Drool over Nargis Fakhris’ which just shows how you feel about other women which is not different from those who are criticising you.
“Why bringing down another woman for her choices while defending yours?”
The backlash intensified with calls for a boycott of Ushna Shah’s upcoming projects.
Some even suggested that she distance herself from the Pakistani entertainment industry altogether.
