Peechay Tou Dekho

5 Top Pakistani Films to Watch in 2022 - Peechay Tou Dekho

Peechay Tou Dekho is a horror-comedy Pakistani film, which will have an entertaining aspect to it.

The film is the launch of young writer Muhammad Yasir from Karachi. This is his first film project as a writer.

Filmmaker Syed Atif Ali is heading this project by Eveready Pictures and ScreenShots Productions as the director-producer.

The film features Yasir Hussain, Aamir Qureshi, Nawal Sayeed, Aadi Adeel, and Waqar Hussain to name a few.

The first look of the film came out in October 2021, with the makers revealing several posters.

The creative and colourful posters represent a mysteriousness, with mirrors, plant leaves, and a witchy hand on the display.`

In late November 2021, Yasir Hussain went on Instagram to share the film trailer, with a caption reading:

“It’s Horror it’s funny it’s interesting. Entertainment ka package.”

Paisa Wasool trailer of an awami movie. Must watch.”

Whilst the trailer gives Peechay Tou Dekho a mixed feeling, it is the horror and comedy elements, which may make for interesting viewing.

Kahay Dil Jidhar

5 Top Pakistani Films to Watch in 2022 - Kahay Dil Jidhar

Kahay Dil Jidhar is one of the most promising films for 2022, highlighting the issue of drugs in Pakistan and its roots.

Musician-actor Junaid Khan portrays a police officer, while Mansha Khan of Laal Kabootar (2019) fame plays a journalist.

The two who initially have a college romance develop a professional rivalry later on. The journalist makes an accusation against the police officer for being corrupt and having a link with the drug mafia.

The teaser starts with a very powerful line, along with a follow-up dialogue:

“Mujhe toh sab kuch badalta nazar araha hai’ (I can feel that everything will change). Hum badlein gay (We will bring the change).”

The trailer also shows in text form what the film will reflect:

“A ‘journey of friendships, life transformation and self-discovery.”

In addition, the trailer showcases the feeling of sensationalism amongst an editorial and journalism space.

Though, Pasha as an honest journalist rises against “censorship” and police officers with a corruptive mindset.

The teaser depicts the corruption of the police at the beginning. However, it also shows how Khan’s character becomes an advocate for justice as he states the dialogue:

“Unchai se neeche ki cheezain kabhi nazar aa hee nahi sakti, chakar ane lageinge. (You can’t see what’s going on at the bottom from the top, you’ll just get dizzy.)”

The film is a direction of Jalal Roomi under Wijdaan Films production.

Aan

5 Top Pakistani Films to Watch in 2022 - Aan

Aan is a film, which has various themes, including love and history. Haseeb Hassan who is known for directing Parwaaz Hai Junoon (2018) takes the director’s chair.

The film has an impressive star cast in Fawad Khan, Sanam Saeed, and Zara Noor Abbas. Fawad and Sanam are the hit pair from the evergreen Pakistani drama, Zindagi Gulzar Hai (2012).

Interestingly, Umera Ahmed who also wrote Zindagi Gulzar Hai is the writer of this film. Going by the green, white, and crescent, the film has a patriotic relevance.

According to the director, the film will “capture a few historical events”, with a Pakistan Navy link. In a presser, he continued saying:

“Aan is the epitome of naval warriors that packs romance and drama between the main actors.”

“It also has a combat and touch of humor that makes it a complete package for the best cinematic experience.”

The director has also gone on to mention that the film is not a “love triangle.”

With Fawad and Sanam in the film, this has the potential to be one of the best Pakistani films in 2022. Meanwhile, Zara is a rising actress who can excel in her role too.

Neelofar

5 Top Pakistani Films to Watch in 2022 - Neelofar 1

Neelofar is one of the most awaited Pakistani films, directed and written by Ammar Rasool. Qasim Mehmood is the producer of the film.

The film stars the super hit duo of Humsafar (2011), Fawad Khan, and Mahira Khan.

In late December 2020, Mahira went on Twitter to share some behind-the-scenes images as the shoot came to a wrap. The pictures came with a caption:

“I take with me a piece of you, leaving a bit of my soul with you. My darling Neelofar, I shall miss you, oh so much.

“Here is a shout out to all those who worked on this film. Each and every one of them put their heart and soul in it.

“Can’t wait for all of you to see our hard work and love on your screens soon, Ameen.”

Mahira told The Express Tribune that she had a great time on this film and that her role is different from a big film:

“I had so much fun working on this project with Fawad. It had been so long.

“Neelofar is just about these two people, it is very different from our characters in Maula Jatt.”

“In Neelofar, it’s just the two of us, all our scenes are with each other. It was just so great to back with Fawad as older, more mature actors and people.”

She added that the director was appreciative of her and Fawad’s on-screen Jodi:

“My director always said you guys make a really good team. I asked him why thinks that is so? He just says that it is a nice balance.

“We really hope that we still have the same chemistry as Humsafar.”

Fawad has not said much about the film, but will not doubt shine on our screens.

The Legend of Maula Jatt

The Legend of Maula Jatt wows with Sublime Trailer - romance

Our list is incomplete without mentioning The Legend of Maula Jatt (TLMOJ). This is one most anticipated Pakistani films ever.

The film is directed by Bilal Lasahari and produced by Ammara Hikmat, with the story coming from legendary writer Nasir Adeeb.

Encyclomedia and Lashari films are two production companies behind this project. TLMOJ is a Punjabi movie, giving a contemporary twist to the 1979 cult classic, Maula Jatt.

Viewers will get to see the fierce rivalry between Maula Jatt (Fawad Khan) and Noori Natt (Hamza Ali Abbasi).

The beautiful Mahira Khan (Mukhoo Jatti) and the flexible Humaima Malik (Daaro Nattni) are the other key stars in the film. The film will appeal to all Pakistanis as Lashari tells InStep Today:

“The film transcends cultural and linguistic divide. A Sindhi will enjoy it as much as any Punjabi.”

“The content will be very palatable to the new generation that in times to come will extend the immortality of the fictional characters, Maula and Noori.”

Going by the trailer, film lovers will enjoy TLOMJ all over the world including India, especially the Punjabi community.

The film will most likely come out during the Eid festivities in 2022.

There are several other big films that were due in 2021 but were pushed to 2022. These include Kamli, London Nahin Jaunga, Money Back Guarantee, Qaid-e-Azam Zindabad, and Tich Button.

So there we have it, as 2022 is all set to unleash some blockbuster and super hit Pakistani films. Hence, enjoy these movies with supplies of popcorn and cheese nachos.
