“This was a deliberate attempt to malign her image"
When Archita Phukan, known online as ‘Babydoll Archi’, first gained attention, it was for her glamorous transitions and eye-catching reels.
But what followed was a digital betrayal no one, not even Archita, could have anticipated.
Born and raised in Assam, Archita went viral for a reel set to ‘Dame Un Grrr’.
In the video, Archita transitioned from a traditional saree to a high-glam look, captivating millions and propelling her into the spotlight.
That surge in fame intensified when she shared a photo with US adult film star Kendra Lust.
Captioned “Felt truly inspired after meeting her”, the post led to rampant speculation.
Meme pages and gossip accounts quickly claimed Archita was joining the adult entertainment industry. A link in Archita’s Instagram profile also took fans to a subscription site, where they could see exclusive adult content.
Soon after, things took a darker turn. A page called Just Assam Things claimed that Archita wasn’t real.
Her online presence lacked behind-the-scenes posts or public appearances, and her Instagram name changed from Archita Phukan to “Amira Ishtara”.
Conspiracy theories swirled, with some insisting that ‘Babydoll Archi’ was actually an AI-generated persona.
The reality was far worse.
According to police, the entire identity was fabricated by the real Archita Phukan’s ex-boyfriend, Pratim Bora.
The 27-year-old mechanical engineer from Tinsukia allegedly stole photos from Archita’s social media and used AI tools to create explicit content.
This included fake reels, altered selfies with Kendra Lust, and suggestive captions.
A Dibrugarh officer said: “This was a deliberate attempt to malign her image following a personal fallout.
“The visuals are fake, and Archita has no connection with adult content or any activities abroad.”
Archita discovered the deception only after the fake profile went viral. Her brother filed an FIR with the Dibrugarh police. Investigators traced the manipulated content to Pratim’s devices.
Sizal Agarwal, IPS, SSP In-charge of Dibrugarh, said: “We traced the Instagram account’s number and linked it to Pratim’s name.
“When we asked the family if they knew who he was, they told us he was a past acquaintance of the victim.
“He started it to harass her, but as soon as he started earning money, he became greedy and continued the account.”
The police have launched a wider investigation. They have seized multiple SIM cards, a laptop, a tablet, as well as debit and credit cards.
Authorities are now probing whether Pratim had collaborators and are examining links to fake Gmail IDs and other AI-generated content.
Preliminary reports confirm that Pratim used just one photo of Archita to generate pornographic content using AI platforms such as OpenAI and Midjourney.
While the tools used are still under review, the extent of manipulation is significant.
It remains unclear how the fake account managed to receive interactions from Kendra Lust.
Some images showed both women together, further fuelling the illusion that Archita had entered the adult industry in the US.
The images and Kendra’s apparent comments tricked social media users into believing Archita was a real woman from Assam who was set to work in porn, rather than a victim of AI-enabled revenge porn.
Police investigations are ongoing but the case has raised fresh concerns over the weaponisation of artificial intelligence in personal vendettas.
