Tennis Player Radhika Yadav Killed By Father aged 25

On Thursday, July 10, 2025, the tennis player Radhika Yadav was shot dead by her father. She was 25 years old.

Radhika was murdered by the 49-year-old Deepak Yadav, who shot his daughter while she was cooking food in their Gurugram house.

Deepak Yadav pulled the trigger five times, and three bullets struck Radhika in the back.

Radhika Yadav was a former state-level tennis player who had opened a tennis academy to coach children.

She had left the sport behind herself due to a shoulder injury, which negatively impacted her ability on the tennis court.

However, her father allegedly wanted her to shut the academy down because people apparently made fun of him for living off the earnings of his daughter.

According to the police, Deepak Yadav was furious after Radhika refused to close the academy.

The 49-year-old told the police: “When I used to go to Wazirabad village to get milk, people used to taunt me, saying that I live off my daughter’s earnings.

“This troubled me a lot. Some people even questioned my daughter’s character.

“I told my daughter to close her tennis academy, but she refused.

“This situation kept bothering me as it hurt my dignity. I was very troubled and stressed.

“Because of this tension, I took out my licensed revolver, and when my daughter Radhika was cooking in the kitchen, I shot her three times from behind, hitting her waist.

“I have killed my daughter.”

The police added that Deepak Yadav’s wife, Manju Yadav, refused to submit a written statement.

An FIR was subsequently filed by Radhika Yadav’s paternal uncle, Kuldeep Yadav, who also gave a statement to the police.

Kuldeep said he heard a loud bang in the morning of the murder and rushed to the first floor, where his brother lived.

He said: “I saw my niece, Radhika Yadav, lying in the kitchen and a revolver lying in the drawing room.

“After that, my son Piyush Yadav and I went upstairs.

“We both lifted Radhika and took her in our car to Asia Moringo Hospital, Sector 56, Gurugram, for treatment.

“After the examination, the doctor declared my niece dead.

“She was a prominent tennis player who had won many trophies.”

“I am shocked by her death and cannot understand why she was murdered.

“When I went to the first floor, only my brother Deepak, my sister-in-law Manju Yadav, and Radhika were present.”

It has also been reported that Radhika and her father disagreed about an Instagram reel the tennis player had shared.

Radhika Yadav was born on March 23, 2000 and she apparently achieved fifth place in women’s doubles in Haryana.
