“Why does a celebrity need to sell knockoff designs"
Shraddha Kapoor’s jewellery brand, Palmonas, is embroiled in controversy for allegedly copying designs from luxury French brand Cartier.
The issue first surfaced on a Reddit thread, where users pointed out striking similarities between Palmonas’ pieces and Cartier’s iconic designs.
The allegations have since sparked criticism, casting a shadow over the Bollywood star’s entrepreneurial venture.
Palmonas was launched in 2022 by orthopaedic surgeon-turned-entrepreneur Dr Amol Patwari, with Shraddha joining later as a co-owner.
The brand markets itself as a provider of demi-fine jewellery, using sterling silver and stainless steel coated with 18-carat gold.
Positioned as an affordable luxury option, Palmonas aims to cater to style-conscious women looking for high-quality, skin-friendly jewellery without the hefty price tag.
However, some social media users have spotted the design similarities and accused her of selling bootleg versions of jewellery from luxury brands.
One user sarcastically remarked: “Plagiarism should just rebrand as ‘making things affordable’.”
Another wrote: “Why does a celebrity need to sell knockoff designs when they have resources to create originals? It’s embarrassing.”
Adding to the humorous commentary, a follower joked:
“Once a legend said, ‘Reebok Nahi, Rebuk he Sahi’.”
This referenced a popular advertisement slogan.
Another tied Shraddha’s family into the controversy, saying:
“After all, she is Crimemaster Gogo’s daughter. This is to be expected obviously.”
The comment referred to her father Shakti Kapoor’s famous role in Andaz Apna Apna.

Some fans tried to defend Shraddha.
A user commented: “Everyone copies nothing new. And if Shraddha doesn’t sell us the copies how will she get the original ones for herself!! Loll!!”
Another defended: “It’s fine… People who wish to buy Cartier but cannot afford it can buy Palmonas.”
One user pointed out:
“If this was Alia, they would’ve booked her for jail.”
This comment gained a lot of attention as it highlighted perceived double standards in how different celebrities are treated under public scrutiny.
The controversy is particularly damaging given Shraddha’s dual role as a public figure and businesswoman.
Shraddha, known for her understated public persona, has yet to issue a statement addressing the matter.
Beyond this controversy, Shraddha Kapoor continues to balance her acting career with her entrepreneurial efforts.
She starred in Stree 2 in 2024 and is set to appear in Stree 3, slated for release in 2027.
