"When you listen to a singer, you can figure out their limits"

During a podcast, Shiraz Uppal discussed his experiences mentoring Aima Baig and Atif Aslam.

He shared insights into his approach to nurturing and enhancing the talents of these popular singers.

Interestingly, he also revealed that he sometimes avoids working with Aima Baig and Atif Aslam to maintain a certain level of professional distance.

Shiraz Uppal elaborated on his philosophy of helping singers realise their full potential.

He said: “I help singers a lot because I understand their ability and potential.

“When you listen to a singer, you can figure out their limits and how much you can push them.

“For example, when I had Aima Baig sing ‘Kalabaaz Dil’, it wasn’t her usual style since she usually sings Western songs.

“I taught her the nuances of this new style, and she picked it up really well. She didn’t even know she could sing these kinds of songs.”

Shiraz emphasised how his guidance helped Aima Baig expand her vocal range and versatility.

Similarly, he shared his experience with Atif Aslam, noting:

“At the beginning of his career, Atif Aslam had a very good and melodious voice, but it was expressionless.

“I worked with him to teach him how to convey emotions through his singing.

“Whether he needed to express love or sadness, I showed him how to infuse his performance with the appropriate feelings.”

“He was a quick learner and picked up these techniques very well, significantly enhancing the emotional impact of his singing.”

Notably, Shiraz has provided music for films such as Dum Mastam and Lahore Say Agay.

Shiraz Uppal is also recognised for his outstanding contributions to Coke Studio, including the song ‘Tu Kuja Man Kuja’, which has garnered more than 200 million views.
