"Dubai is a second home to me"
Badshah of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan is the latest face of Dubai Tourism.
The 51-year-old actor has joined forces with Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) to unravel the hidden gems of the majestic city.
The collaboration will see Shahrukh feature in a series of short films that will uncover some of the more remote and secret parts of Dubai that are unknown to tourists.
The aim of the project is to give fans of the megastar a chance to witness and view the popular holiday destination through Shahrukh’s own eyes.
Speaking about the project, Shahrukh says:
“Dubai is a second home to me… Whether I am here on vacation with my family and friends or my many business trips here for shoots, it’s a city that I truly relate to on so many levels – driven, passionate and spirited.
“And I can’t wait to take my fans and fellow travellers from around the world on an unexpected discovery of a city that I love.
“This new collaboration with Dubai Tourism is exciting and one that I am personally very passionate about. Watch this space.”
Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan is known for his diverse business ventures and brand endorsements that he vigorously maintains alongside his acting career.
It is anticipated that the short films will air across Dubai Tourism’s TV channels as early as December 2016.
This is, in fact, the first of a year-long series of projects with Bollywood.
CEO, Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM), Issam Kazim, adds:
“We are delighted to partner with Shahrukh Khan for this special project, which highlights Dubai’s diverse offerings that cater to every type of traveller.
“We look forward to exploring Shahrukh’s strong connection with Dubai and sharing his unique experience with a global audience.
“These upcoming collaborations with the Bollywood industry will reinforce the strong role India has played in our city’s evolution and further fortify our bond.”
It is hoped that through the popular collaboration of Bollywood superstars, Dubai can strengthen and celebrate its close connection and cultural bond with other parts of the subcontinent.
The project highlights the key importance of India as a market source for tourism to the United Arab Emirates.
By giving one of UAE’s key cities the Bollywood treatment, Dubai Tourism hopes to reach out to Shahrukh Khan’s global fanbase and much more.
