Seven Men charged with Sex Abuse Offences in Oxford

Operation Nautical has arrested seven men for multiple sex abuse offences. Six have been charged with conspiracy to rape a girl under the age of 16.

Seven men charged with Sex Abuse offences in Oxford

Six of them men received three charges of conspiracy to rape a girl under the age of 16.

Police charged a total of seven men with sex abuse offences in Oxfordshire. The arrests took place on 30th March 2017. They all arrived at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on 1st April 2017 to hear the charges.

They will next appear in court on 25th April 2017, along with a further eight men carrying similar charges.

The men became arrested as part of a police operation, Operation Nautical, led by Thames Valley Police.

Reports identify the men as Shabir Dogar, Shabaz Khan, Shohab Dogar, Yasin Hamid, Usman Iddris and Joseph Suraina.

The seventh man, Waqas Hussain, will go to court on 4th April 2017.

Police have charged them with various sex abuse offences, all committed on girls under the age of 16. Six of the men received three charges of conspiracy to rape.

In addition, Shabir Dogar received two counts of rape, one of abetting rape and one of engaging in a penetrative sexual activity.

The operation also charged Shohab Dogar with five counts of rape, seven of abetting and aiding rape and two of inciting a girl, aged 13-15, to engage in sexual activity

Also, Shabaz Khan, Yasin Hamid and Usman Iddris have all been charged with multiple counts of rape of a girl under the age of 16.

Waqas Hussain received an offence of rape of a girl under the age of 13.

Operation Nautical has also arrested eight other men, also charged with similar sex abuse offences. The operation organised 120 police to raid properties on 28th March 2017, around 6am.

The men received their charges on the same day at Oxford Magistrates’ Court. One man, identified as Leon Cole, reportedly shouted to a woman in the public gallery. He supposedly said:

“Be sure to make you a visit innit – love ya babes. [sic]”

Others appearing at the trial included Qamran Hafiz, Ateeq Hussain, Tafail Mohammed, Abdul Safraz, Nasser Younis, Marcelo Suarez and Ahsan Raza.

During the trial, police charged the men with a combined total of 32 counts of raping a girl under the age of 16.

Police also charged the men with other sex abuse offences. Hafiz, Raza and Hussian received counts of inciting the rape of a girl under the age of 16.

The trial also charged Younis with taking an indecent photograph of a child and Raza with false imprisonment.

They will all also appear in court on 25th April 2017.

Two other men, Amir Arfi and Atique Akhtar, had also been charged. They will appear with Waqas Hussain in court on 4th April 2017, as they all have no fixed abodes.
