Sandeep Reddy Vanga attacks Adil Hussain's 'Kabir Singh' Regret

"Your greed is bigger than your passion."

Sandeep Reddy Vanga fired back at Adil Hussain after the latter commented on his film Kabir Singh (2019).

In an interview, Adil said that he regretted signing Sandeep’s film that featured Shahid Kapoor in the lead role.

Adil Hussain admitted: “The only film I have regretted is acting in Kabir Singh.

“I was in the middle of something and they wanted one day from me.

“I said, ‘No, no, I can’t’.

“I told my manager, ‘Ask them for a lot of money they will say no to’.

“But they agreed. So I went and did it and I like the scene. The scene I did is a good scene.

“So I thought the film is also going to be good and then I go to watch the film and I was like, ‘What am I doing here?’

“You have no idea how I felt. I felt so embarrassed.

“I went with one of my friends. We both walked out. I can’t even ask my wife to see it.

“She would be so angry if she sees this is what I’ve done.”

Adil Hussain added that the film glorified violence:

“I think a film like this, it celebrates something which is not beneficial for society.

“It legitimises male misogyny. It legitimises violence against anybody for that matter, doesn’t have to be a woman.

“And it celebrates it, it glorifies it and it should not be glorified.”

Adil’s admissions did not sit well with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who slammed the actor on X.

Sharing Adil’s interview, the filmmaker said: “Your ‘belief’ in 30 art films didn’t get as much fame to you as your ‘regret’ of one BLOCKBUSTER film did.

“I regret casting you knowing that your greed is bigger than your passion.

“Now I’ll save you from the shame by replacing your face with AI help. Now smile properly.”

Users were quick to criticise Sandeep for his somewhat defensive reaction.

One responded: “Seriously? Are you mad? Why you can’t handle criticism?”

Another added: “Vanga bro, grow up and start taking criticism in a good way. No one is your enemy. Chill.”

A third wrote: “Sir, Why can’t you handle criticism? Not everybody likes everyone’s work.

“There are haters of Sholay and DDLJ too. So Kabir Singh and Animal too can have.”

The filmmaker faced polarising reactions for his latest film Animal (2023) as well.

Although it emerged as a blockbuster, the film was called out for its apparent misogyny and alleged toxic masculinity.

Celebrities such as Kiran Rao and Javed Akhtar offered viewpoints that picked up on these aspects.

Meanwhile, Adil Hussain played a medical college dean in Kabir Singh.

He was last seen in the Malayalam film Otta (2023).
