“This is what we call a perfect tease"
The trailer of Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s upcoming Telugu thriller Yashoda has been receiving raving reviews since its launch on Thursday, October 20, 2022.
The action-thriller film is about an illegal racket involving surrogate mothers.
Samantha plays the titular role and she agrees to be a surrogate mother in exchange for money.
She enrols in Eva, an agency that helps people become parents through surrogacy. However, not everything is as it seems as Yashoda previously thought.
Samantha took to Instagram to release the trailer.
She posted: “The first time I heard the script, it gave me chills. I hope you experience the same.”
Since the trailer release, it has been receiving remarkable reviews from fans and celebrities across the industry.
Liger star Vijay Devarakonda tweeted:
“Was in love with her, when as a college kid I saw her on the big screen for the first time.
“Today I admire and adore her for everything she is. So very happy to share with you all Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s new film Yashoda.
Varun Dhawan tweeted: “This looks like one heck of a thrilling ride! Congrats Samantha Ruth Prabhu.”
Fans have also been praising Samantha for her action-packed role.
One said: “This is what we call a perfect tease by a perfect teaser. Samantha Mam is nailing it.”
Another commented: “Crazzyy!!!!!!
“This is what happens when female actors are given character-depth roles with more dimensions and not some love interest of a big hero. Sam’s gonna kill it.”
Various media houses also took the time to appreciate the new trailer.
123 Telugu described the trailer as “fascinating and gripping”. Meanwhile, The Stateman said:
“Samantha’s action-packed trailer of Yashoda hooked audiences’ eyes.”
Samantha’s co-star Varalaxmi Sarathkumar opened up about her character, saying:
“My role [in Yashoda] has shades of grey. It is not exactly a positive or negative character.
“If you see the film, you will understand that she is like an onion, with so many layers.”
“It’s a different character. It is also not static, there are a lot of ups and downs.”
She added that although Yashoda is a fictional story, it is inspired by the stories of real-life individuals.
On working with Samantha, Varalaxmi said:
“I have known Samantha for more than a decade.
“We used to hang out in Chennai. Even on the set, there was a lot of madness and fun whenever we were together, though the movie deals with a serious subject.”
Yashoda also stars the likes of Unni Mukundan, Rao Ramesh and Murali Sharma.
Directed by Hari-Harish, Yashoda is set to release on November 11, 2022.
