Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s ‘Shaakuntalam’ to release in February

Shaakuntalam, the mythological drama headlined by Samantha Ruth Prabhu, will release in theatres on February 17 worldwide.

“We will be announcing a new release date soon.”

Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Shaakuntalam will release in theatres on February 17, 2023.

The makers unveiled the new release date of the film on January 2, 2023.

The actress also shared a new poster of the film on her Instagram handle, featuring her with Dev Mohan.

Along with the poster, she announced the film’s release date.

She wrote: “Witness the Epic Love Story #Shaakuntalam in theatres near you from Feb 17th, 2023 Worldwide! Also in 3D.”

The Telugu film was earlier scheduled to release on November 4, 2022.

In September, the makers took to Twitter and released an official statement that read:

“We aim to give a bigger experience with Shaakuntalam and immerse you in the World of Shaakuntalam, for which we as a team felt 3D would be a brilliant way.

“To facilitate this, we would be taking some time to put forth and so, will be unable to meet the earlier announced date of release.”

They added: “We thank the support and love showered upon us, from around the world, hoping for your support in this too!

“We will be announcing a new release date soon.”

Directed by Gunasekhar, Shaakuntalam is a mythological drama based on Kalidasa’s Abhijnana Shakuntalam.

The story revolves around an epic love story of Shakuntala and King Dushyant.

The film also features Kabir Bedi, Prakash Raj, Sachin Khedekar, Jisshu Sengupta, Dr M Mohan Babu, Madhubala, Gautami, Aditi Balan and Ananya Nagalla in key roles.

The movie will also be released in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.

The filming for Shaakuntalam was wrapped up in August 2021.

Further, Allu Arjun’s daughter, Allu Arha will also be making her Tollywood debut as prince Bharata in Shaakuntalam.

Financed by Gunaa Teamworks, Dil Raju Productions is the distributor for the venture.

The music for the film is composed by Mani Sharma.

Meanwhile, Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been keeping a low profile ever since she was diagnosed with an autoimmune condition called myositis.

Ahead of the New Year, she shared a selfie on her Instagram handle and dropped a beautiful note about “newer and easier resolutions” that are “kinder and gentler.”

In the caption, she wrote: “Function forward… Control what we can!!

“Guess it’s time for newer and easier resolutions.. ones that are kinder and gentler on ourselves. God bless Happy 2023!!”

On the work front, Samantha Ruth Prabhu also has films with Vijay Deverakonda, and Aaradhya lined up.
