"He travelled to Mumbai in January to conduct a recce"
Popular Bollywood actor Salman Khan was the prey of a sharpshooter who was allegedly on the hunt to murder the actor.
A sharpshooter named Rahul who is reportedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has been arrested by the Faridabad Police.
Rahul was, in fact, arrested in connection with the murder of an unnamed resident on June 24, 2020.
During the investigation, the sharpshooter revealed that actor Salman Khan was also on his list of victims.
Rahul claimed that he was planning to murder actor Salman Khan concerning his connections with the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.
In 1998, Salman Khan was caught in legal trouble for the unlawful killing of two blackbucks in Jodhpur.
The actor was charged with two separate cases. The first case was for hunting endangered animals while the second case was for offences under the Arms Act (1959).
The blackbuck poaching incident took place during the filming of the 1999 film, Hum Saath Saath Hai.
Despite initially being sentenced to five years in jail, Salman was later acquitted of the charges.
Stars like Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Neelam Kothari and Sonali Bendre were also involved in the case. However, they were not charged due to a lack of evidence.
Reportedly, the sharpshooter had already done a reconnaissance of Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartment in Bandra.
However, his plans were foiled with the outbreak of the coronavirus.
The Bishnoi tribe in Jodhpur view blackbucks as the sacred creation of God. Hence, any form of harming animals is considered a heinous crime.
According to a tweet by news portal ANI, details of Rahul were shared. It read:
“Police have arrested sharpshooter Rahul of Lawrence Bishnoi gang.”
