Sajal Aly and Ameer Gilani are paired for a new drama written by Farhat Ishtiaq, titled Zanjeerain.
Currently being filmed in Islamabad, the project is being produced for HUM TV and has already started creating a stir online, thanks to a behind-the-scenes video showing Sajal in a striking red bridal outfit.
While excitement over the project is high, the casting has stirred mixed reactions from fans.
Many are eager to see Sajal back on screen, especially in consecutive projects.
Her recent pace has drawn comparisons to Akshay Kumar for her consistent appearances.
One fan wrote: “Sajal has become the Akshay Kumar of our industry, working day and night!”
However, some fans expressed reservations about the pairing.
A few questioned whether Ameer Gilani had the screen presence to match Sajal’s stature.
One social media comment read: “From which angle does Ameer look like a hero?”
Another added: “Ameer has given back-to-back flops, yet he’s being cast with Sajal in a Farhat Ishtiaq script.”
Others defended the casting, acknowledging Ameer’s acting potential while raising concerns over industry dynamics.
One comment noted: “It seems that the precondition for getting a good script is either being a nepo kid or a favourite; otherwise, you must have a record of flops.”
Some fans also took the opportunity to suggest that Sajal experiment more with her looks and style in upcoming roles.

She also stars opposite Humayun Saeed in Main Manto Nahi Hoon, which released a teaser that hinted at a powerful narrative centred on a bold, unapologetic protagonist who challenges social conventions.
Humayun Saeed’s character repeatedly asserts his individuality, stating that he refuses to be labelled.
The teaser’s description reads: “He challenges norms… He questions the unquestioned. He’s Not Manto.”
With Zanjeerain and Main Manto Nahi Hoon, Sajal Aly seems poised for a dominant run on television.
