“100 per cent of women do not have a penis.”
Rishi Sunak has landed himself in hot water after being recorded making a mockery of trans people.
He is said to be conversing about “women having penises” and jibing Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey due to his support for trans rights.
The recording is made at a Parliament sitting, which occurs weekly.
The video clip is believed to be a recent one from June 5 2023.
Sunak’s derogatory words were received with laughter from other MPs who were in his presence and is recorded saying:
“It shows his spectacular misjudgement and why he’s completely unfit to lead our country.”
Sunak continued his speech in which he is further heard saying:
“Over the same period of time, you might have noticed Ed Davey has been very busy.
“Like me, you can probably see that he was trying to convince everybody that women clearly had penises.
“You all know that I’m a big fan of everybody studying maths to 18, but it turns out that we need to focus on biology.”
Rishi Sunak refers to his idea of having students study maths until the age of 18, but the proposal has not yet been passed due to the issue of providing extra staff to make this a possibility.
It is not clear who Sunak is attributing, but it’s assumed that it could be directed to Labour leader Keir Starmer, who was also in the limelight for supporting the proposition of schools ‘outing’ trans students to their families.
The individual who leaked the video exclaimed:
“The veneer of freedom of speech publicly is one thing, but to make jokes in private, it’s another thing altogether.
“You wouldn’t make jokes about other marginalised people the way he did about trans people.”
They further added: “There was laughter, and there were quite a few younger attendees who looked visually uncomfortable.”
A senior member of the Tory MP gave a statement in which he commented:
“It is profoundly depressing – this whole ‘othering’ of minorities – pretty much any minority.
“Without stopping to think we have equalities legislation for a reason, to stop discrimination against anyone with a protected characteristic – we should be trying to understand support, not belittle and demonise.”
In April of this year, Sunak complied with a statement that read “100 per cent of women do not have a penis” when he was in conversation with Conservative Home.
It is believed that this was to show himself dissimilar to Keir Starmer who had earlier said that “99.9 per cent of women, it is completely biological, and of course they haven’t got a penis.”
Rishi Sunak gave the impression that there were plans to re-write the Equality Act to bar trans women from single-sex spaces.
He overlooked the points of the Gender Recognition Reform Act, in which it is stated that life should be made less difficult for trans people.
It also stated that trans people should be legally recognised without having to prove a medical diagnosis.
Nancy Kelley, Stonewall’s chief executive expressed her disappointment and asked Sunak to apologise for his behaviour.
She said: “No minority community should be the butt of a joke.
“It is incredibly disappointing that the Prime Minister chose to mock trans people in front of his parliamentary colleagues.
“This is a far cry from his pledge to govern with compassion and would be unacceptable in any modern workplace.
“The PM should apologise for his actions.”
Rishi Sunak has not yet commented on the leaked footage.
