Rajinikanth is teaming up with Jai Bhim director TJ Gnanavel for his next, tentatively titled Thalaivar 170.
The film is produced by Lyca Productions and the music is composed by Anirudh Ravichandran.
The shoot for the film is expected to begin soon.
The big announcement was made with a special note on social media by the makers, on the occasion of their chairman Subaskaran’s birthday on March 2, 2023.
The announcement read: “Lyca Productions is feeling acclaimed & honoured in announcing “Superstar” Rajinikanth’s “#Thalaivar 170” film under our banner.
“This film will be directed by TJ Gnanavel, will have music by “Rockstar” Anirudh, and produced by Subaskaran.
“We are further happy to inform you that the shoot of the film will commence soon under the leadership of GKM Tamil Kumaran and will be ready for release in 2024.”
This announcement has taken the internet by storm as this project marks the third collaboration of Rajinikanth with Lyca Productions.
They previously bankrolled blockbuster films like Darbar and Kaala.
Further, Thalaivar 170 has already generated excitement among fans and critics who are eager to know what the director has in store for them following Jai Bhim.
Rajinikanth is reportedly portraying a cop in the highly-anticipated film Thalaivar 170, which is based on a real-life incident.
Similar to his critically acclaimed debut film Jai Bhim, which starred Suriya, TJ Gnanavel plans to release a film with a strong social message.
Thalaivar 170 is expected to release in theatres in 2024.
Meanwhile, the Sivaji: The Boss actor is currently busy with Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer.
The superstar recently completed a long schedule in Jaisalmer, and the shoot is currently in its final stages.
According to reports, the actor is currently shooting for a massive action sequence in Chennai.
Jailer features Kannada superstar Shiva Rajkumar as the lead antagonist in the film.
The other cast includes Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi, and Vinayakan, among others.
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is also making a special appearance in the film.
Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff is also touted to be part of the film.
Meanwhile, Anirudh Ravichander has composed music for the project.
Jailer is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the popular film production banner Sun Pictures.
Apart from this, the actor also has his daughter Aishwaryaa’s directorial film Lal Salaam.
He is playing a cameo role in the highly-anticipated film.
