His friend Kamal Haasan dropped a special birthday post on his Twitter handle.
It reads: “Happy birthday to my dear friend, Superstar @rajinikanth.
“On this auspicious day, I wish you to continue your journey of success.”
Soon after he shared the birthday post, fans flooded the comment section.
One user wrote: “Golden era and best pair of heroes of Tamil cinema! Never before never again!”
Another user wrote: “Wish they both act together in a future movie. Legends of Indian Cinema Industry.”
Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan acted together in several hit films in the 1970s, such as Apoorva Raagangal, Moondru Mudichu, 16 Vayathinile and Aval Appadithan.
Others include Ninaithale Ninaikum, Ilamai Oonjal Aadukirathu and Thaayillamal Naan Illai, among others.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan also took to his Twitter handle to wish the legendary actor.

Further, on December 10, 2022, two days before the actor’s 72nd birthday, his 20-year-old movie Baba was re-released in selected theatres across the world.
Fans who watched the re-release took to social media platforms to share the experience of watching the movie all again in the theatre.
Fans observed that some of the scenes and dialogues were edited in the re-release to fit Rajinikanth quitting politics.
One Twitter user made a list of the scenes removed from the re-release compared to the original.
According to sources, the re-released movie is said to have collected Rs 1.4 crore on day 1 worldwide.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Rajinikanth will be next seen in filmmaker Nelson’s action-comedy drama Jailer.
The movie also stars Ramya Krishnan, Shivarajkumar, Yogi Babu, Vasanth Ravi, and Vinayakan in key roles.
The film is slated to release in theatres on April 14, 2023.
