Radhika Apte was Rejected as Actress had ‘Bigger Breasts’

Radhika Apte spoke about sexism in the film industry, revealing that she has been rejected because of her appearance.

The actress also said that people made suggestions about her appearance, stating that they made her angry.

Revealing that she was recently rejected from a role, Radhika said:

“I recently got rejected because the other actor had bigger lips and bigger breasts.

“I was told, ‘She looks sexier, and sells more’. It was a good film being made by people whom I respect.

“You look up to [certain people], and think, ‘They won’t be into this’. But they also [have such a mindset].

“Hopefully, the more women we have in [positions of power], the more things will change.”

Recalling her early career, Radhika was told to get cosmetic surgery on her face and body.

She said: “When I was new, I was told to do lots of jobs on my body and face.

“The first meeting I had, I was told to change my nose.

“The second meeting I had, I was told to get a boob job.

“Then that continued, then I was told to do something to my legs, then something to my jaw, and something to refill somewhere, then botox.

“Like, it took me 30 years to colour my hair. I’m not going to even get an injection. It just put me off. I never felt pressurised by it.

“In fact, I felt angrier and, in fact, all of that helped me actually love my body even more because I was like I love my body.”

Radhika Apte spoke about a friend who had botox. The friend had asked her what her problem with botox was.

She said that she does not want to address ageing with cosmetic surgery because it is unnatural.

“I’m just a bit sick and tired of people constantly doing that and which is why it doesn’t affect me.”

“I mean it affects me, but it doesn’t affect me in the way that I would like to do it ever.”

On the work front, Radhika Apte is currently awaiting the release of Forensic.

It stars Vikrant Massey and Prachi Desai. The film is expected to release on ZEE5 on June 24, 2022.

Radhika also has Vikram Vedha in the pipeline, which also stars Saif Ali Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Rohit Saraf and Yogita Bihani.

It will release on September 30, 2022.
