"For every girl on my set, the neckline should be here"
Palak Tiwari has detailed the “rule” Salman Khan had for all female crew members.
The 22-year-old is set to make her acting debut in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which is set to release on April 21, 2023.
But this is not the first time Palak has worked with Salman.
Palak said she previously assisted on Antim: The Final Truth, which starred Salman and his brother-in-law Aayush Sharma.
She explained that Salman had a rule about how women should dress on the set of the 2021 film and that nobody was more pleased about this than her mother.
Detailing her mother’s reaction, Palak said:
“My mother didn’t cry, and that’s the good thing. She was very calm because she knew I’d be on Salman sir’s set. She was tranquil.
“You know, there’s a very funny story.
“She has been very happy with Salman sir, because, like every Desi mother ever, she has always been very critical of what I wear.
“When I was AD-ing with Salman sir on Antim, I don’t think many people know this, Salman Sir had a rule ‘For every girl on my set, the neckline should be here, all the girls should be covered, like good proper girls’.
“So my mom saw me (going to set) in proper shirt, jogger and covered and all.
“She was like, ‘Where are you going? How are you dressed so well?’ I said I am going to Salman sir’s set. She was like ‘Wow, very good’.”
On why such rules existed for the female crew members, Palak explained:
“He’s a traditionalist… Of course, he’s like ‘Wear what you like’, but he’s always like ‘My girls should always be protected’.
“If there are men around, whom he doesn’t personally know, it’s not his personal space where he doesn’t trust everyone, he’s like, ‘the girl should be safe, always’.”
Palak Tiwari went on to say that working with Salman Khan ticked off her entire bucket list.
Speaking about her brother’s reaction, Palak said:
“He doesn’t understand Salman Khan’s magnitude of stardom.
“For him, he is Tiger, as he loves action films. So when the ‘Yentamma’ song dropped he was like ‘What are you doing with Tiger?’ It made me so happy.”
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan also stars Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh Daggubati, Jagapathi Babu, Shehnaaz Gill and Raghav Juyal.
In addition to the film, Palak will also appear in The Virgin Tree, which stars Sanjay Dutt.
