COVID-19 has led to a number of strict guidelines being implemented, which include no social gatherings. However, some people continue to ignore them and that was the case with one Pakistani groom.

On Thursday, March 26, 2020, the man and his family members were arrested for having a wedding.

The incident happened at the man’s house in the village of Pakpattan.

Police raided the property and found over 50 people inside. They consisted of the groom, his family and friends.

The Pakistani groom, his family members, neighbours and relatives were about to leave for the bride’s house when a police team raided the house.

Officers explained that they had violated the lockdown rules and had stated that such gatherings run the risk of spreading Coronavirus.

Following their arrests, a case was registered under Section 188 (disobedience to orders) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The main way that Coronavirus spreads is between humans when they are in close proximity to each other.

Repeated calls for social distancing have been made in an attempt to reduce the spread of it.

In a bid to enforce it, many countries across the world have implemented lockdowns.

Even though people have been told to stay at home, some continue to socialise and run the risk of spreading Coronavirus.

This was the case in Karachi where a woman attended a wedding and infected nine people.

It was reported that the nine people are all part of the same family. They had attended a wedding where the woman was also in attendance.

The woman had travelled from Saudi Arabia and was diagnosed with the deadly virus.

During the wedding, she met with the family, subsequently infecting all of them.

After the function ended, the family members started displaying symptoms of Coronavirus. They underwent testing and the results came back positive.

The family has now been taken to hospital for treatment.

The authorities explained that other family members are self-isolating at home, adding that they were searching for all the people who had attended the wedding as they could be potential carriers of COVID-19.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the spread of COVID-19 could be reduced if people stopped attending social gatherings and weddings.

“If people start celebrating weddings and attending large functions, they will put the elderly at risk.

“It is your responsibility to exercise caution and restraint. This is why we have closed down malls, schools and universities.
