"I didn’t verify the news and ended up repeating it live.”
Nida Yasir has publicly apologised for incorrectly claiming Anmol Baloch had tied the knot during a special Eid transmission of her morning show.
The statement, made casually on-air, quickly fuelled rumours and social media chatter about a secret wedding, none of which were apparently true.
While hosting the Eid edition of her morning show, Nida mentioned Anmol Baloch alongside other celebrities who had recently tied the knot.
The episode featured singer Falak Shabir and actress Sarah Khan, who also extended well-wishes to celebrity couples, including a nod to Anmol.
The seemingly offhand comment ignited widespread speculation online about the actress’ marital status.
Shortly after the episode aired, Anmol Baloch issued a public clarification, denying the rumours, confirming that she is not married and dismissing the circulating claims as baseless.
The growing backlash prompted Nida Yasir to issue an on-air apology during another live broadcast.
Without naming Anmol directly, Nida admitted her mistake and took full responsibility for the misinformation.
She explained: “Someone from the industry casually mentioned to me that a certain actress had gotten married.
“I didn’t verify the news and ended up repeating it live.”
She acknowledged that it was wrong to speak about anyone’s personal life, especially something as significant as a marriage, without confirmation.
Nida went on to say that her intention was never to cause harm or distress.
She promised her audience and the actress involved that she would be more cautious moving forward.
Nida requested viewers to avoid spreading unconfirmed news:
“I should not have spoken without verifying. It’s a serious matter, and I understand that now. I truly apologise.”
Despite the mistake, Nida continues to take internet trolling in her stride.
Known for her candid nature, she recently joked about how being trolled has become routine for her.
She shared:
“If I don’t get trolled once a month, something feels off. Just two days ago, my own son roasted me.”
During a recent show that featured children, including her own son, he playfully said his mother never cooks.
The comment stirred debate online, with critics targeting her for not fitting traditional roles.
While some took the joke lightly, others used it to question her domestic responsibilities as a mother and wife. Still, Nida Yasir remains unfazed.
Her willingness to admit mistakes, laugh at herself, and engage openly with criticism continues to define her long-standing presence on television.
