"Our NHS would collapse without immigration."

Immigration has always been a hot topic of discussion for netizens.

The NHS is the UK’s leading healthcare system, known for the diversity and inclusion in its workforce.

A tweet was recently posted on X in which the user praised the immigration in the NHS.

The tweet read: “I saw my GP yesterday for an annual check-up.

“My Syrian doctor reviewed my meds. A Polish woman took my bloods.

“The Bangladeshi receptionist booked my follow-up.

“Our NHS would collapse without immigration — just tell Reform to f**k off.

“Better together with our international NHS.”

The tweet garnered mixed reactions from netizens. Some agreed with the post.

One user said: “Yes, legal immigrants giving to society.”

Another wrote: “Well said!”

However, the majority of responses did not take to the idea well. Many criticised the tweet.

One person commented: “Where’s the British doctor, the British nurse, and the British receptionist?

“If the NHS ‘would collapse without immigration’, maybe ask why we aren’t training and prioritising British staff in the first place?

“And would we even need so many extra staff if we didn’t have millions more people to look after due to mass immigration?”

Another netizen wrote a lengthy reply and said: “Oh, bless your heart, you’ve turned a routine doctor’s visit into a UN roll-call!

“Your Syrian doctor, Polish phlebotomist, and Bangladeshi receptionist are the glue holding the NHS together.

“Because apparently, no one born within a 500-mile radius of Big Ben can handle a stethoscope or a clipboard.

“And sure, let’s just tell Reform to ‘f**k off’ while we’re at it.

“Why bother with a pesky debate when you can dunk on them with your multicultural flex?

“‘Better together’ sounds like a cheesy Eurovision slogan, but I guess it’s catchier than Our NHS: Powered by Everyone But You.

“Careful, though – keep waving that flag too hard, and you might strain something your GP will need to check next year.”

A third user said: “Illegal immigration is the problem, mate. Please get this right before spouting off.”

Interestingly, in February 2025, 30 trusts joined a programme to initiate anti-racism award schemes.

These schemes are due to set race quotas for leadership positions.

To achieve gold status, boards must include minimum numbers of black, Asian or minority ethnic directors.

A former health secretary, Steve Barclay, said: “The NHS should have a relentless focus on developing a meritocracy.

“Not on hitting arbitrary ideological targets, which can distort behaviours in organisations.”
