“It’s sad how these barbarians show their true colours"
Nazish Jahangir is facing backlash following her remark regarding a hypothetical marriage proposal from Pakistani cricket team captain Babar Azam.
In an Instagram Q&A, she was asked how she would respond if Azam proposed to her.
Nazish replied: “I will say no.”
This response triggered a negative reaction from Babar’s fans.
In an attempt to avoid further criticism, she switched her Instagram account from public to private.
Nazish later issued a response after a fake screenshot of an Instagram post went viral.
It allegedly showed her harshly criticising those trolling her for declining the supposed proposal from Babar.
Denouncing the fabricated screenshot, Nazish expressed disappointment at the behaviour of the trolls.
She stated: “It’s sad how these barbarians show their true colours or defame not just me, but also our Babar Azam.
“They are screaming [out of] respect for him, I can only feel pity for them.”
Despite facing trolling and abuse, Nazish maintained her stance:
“I’m only saying this because I don’t want to say any nonsense because there’s a lot of difference between your calibre and mine… so go on.”
Moreover, she clarified that her previous statement about Babar Azam was misconstrued.
She emphasised that she considers all national cricketers as brothers.
Nazish urged the cricketer’s fans to refrain from spreading negativity and stressed her neutral stance towards cricketers.
She stated: “I have nothing to do with cricketers, all are bros to me tbh [to be honest].”
Nazish also reiterated her earlier declaration of not marrying anyone from the showbiz industry.
She expressed a preference for a partner from outside Pakistan and a desire to settle abroad after marriage.
“I will never marry someone from the industry, that’s very clear. It would be even better if he is from outside Pakistan.
“I’ve never given a thought over it, but definitely, if given an option, I will settle anywhere abroad after marriage, be it USA, Dubai, Canada or even UK.”
A user wrote:
