“They said that no one has ever said no to us.”

Abrar-ul-Haq recently appeared on Hafiz Ahmed’s podcast and boldly claimed that he had refused a film with Katrina Kaif.

He delved into various aspects of his career, shedding light on his experiences.

When questioned about potential opportunities from India, Abrar disclosed that he has been approached numerous times by Bollywood.

He claimed to have received offers for both albums and film roles.

According to Abrar, a noteworthy offer was from Eros and it involved a film with Katrina Kaif.

Despite facing pressure from acquaintances to accept the offer, Abrar made the unconventional decision to decline it.

This unexpected refusal caught Eros by surprise, as Abrar became the first to turn down their proposal.

He recalled: “They said that no one has ever said no to us.”

Abrar’s decision stemmed from his discomfort with the terms of the contract.

He expressed unease with a clause that prohibited him from discussing certain sensitive topics, particularly the Kashmir issue.

For Abrar, freedom of speech is non-negotiable, and he refused to compromise on his principles.

He emphasised: “They asked me not to talk about Kashmir.”

This was new knowledge to Abrar’s fans and they reacted enthusiastically.

One wrote: “Has anyone seen any of our Pakistani artists speak so humbly, so politely, and also so openly about their life?

“With my hand on my heart, I certainly haven’t seen anyone like this amazing man!”

Another said: “Abrar is such a positive man.”

Acknowledging the cultural exchange between the two nations, Abrar-ul-Haq expressed admiration for the musical heritage of both Pakistan and India.

Despite his success across the border and his substantial fan base in India, Abrar remains respectful of Indian artists.

He recognises their legendary status and his personal appreciation for some of them.

He shared that he got an offer from Honey Singh as well, adding:

“Our cultures are quite rich. I have a lot of fans from India and I am a fan of quite a few of them.

“There are great singers there. There are legends, I follow them.”

However, some netizens were sceptical about his claims.

A user said: “Sounds like he is lying. Who in their right mind would refuse a film with Katrina Kaif?

“He wants to make himself look good just because he ‘rejected’ a film with Katrina.”

One stated:

“Very self-absorbed man. Despite his huge talents as an artist, something about him is untrustworthy!”

Another commented: “No one offered him a film with Katrina. You need to be good-looking for that.”

One questioned: “Where stars like Ranbir, Sharukh, and Siddharth exist, who would even talk to Abrar? Let alone offer him a lead?”

Abrar-ul-Haq’s music transcends borders, captivating audiences not only in Pakistan but also in India and beyond.

Recently, his track ‘Nach Punjaban’ made waves after being featured in Karan Johar’s Jugjugg Jeeyo.
