"when is being pregnant some sort of rudeness or vulgarity?"

Mariam Ansari hit back at the trolls who criticised her maternity photoshoot.

The actress had posted a series of photographs, which included her holding a pair of baby shoes while another featured her husband Owais Khan cradling her baby bump.

The third image showed the couple holding a scan of their baby.

Announcing the birth of their daughter, Mariam wrote:

“Welcoming our little bundle of joy Amaya Khan. Thank you for making our life complete. 04/07/2023.”

The post was met with many messages of congratulations from fellow industry members who expressed their joy at the wonderful news.

However, there were a few social media users who deemed Mariam’s post distasteful and shameful.

One person said: “There was a time when women were pregnant and not even their siblings would know.

“Shame on you, now you openly flaunt your pregnant bellies.”

Another said: “Pakistan is ahead of all in the acts of shamelessness.”

Others blamed Owais for allowing such photoshoots.

Mariam Ansari took to Instagram to hit back at her critics.

She said: “Oh my God, the amount of hate I have received on my pregnancy pictures just shows… What do I even say?

“It’s my profile, my choice. I’ve even had my child. It’s my choice whatever I post.

“If you don’t like it you shouldn’t follow me.”

Mariam went on to say that what she had witnessed on social media was nothing short of hypocrisy and accused her Pakistani followers of having double standards.

She continued: “I don’t understand, since when is being pregnant some sort of rudeness or vulgarity?

“You too were born just like this, so what?

“You’ll watch Katrina Kaif dance, you’ll like Nora’s pictures, but if a Pakistani actress who is fully dressed reveals her pregnancy then ‘oh my god, Astaghfirullah’.

“I mean, if you were really all that great and you saw someone was pregnant, you’d congratulate them, you’d send prayers their way.”

Interestingly, following her outburst, Mariam’s Instagram page is nowhere to be found.

Could this be because she has deactivated her account following the backlash?

Or maybe she has decided she wants to focus on her new family bubble and that negativity has no place in her new family life?

Mariam has been married to Owais Khan since February 2021.

She revealed that she met Owais in college where Owais was a senior and she herself was a freshman.
