"I can't believe what I saw today."

The television show Mahadev and Sons has come under sharp online criticism following an episode that depicted domestic abuse and physical violence.

An episode from the series triggered a substantial backlash on X, where several users objected strongly to the depiction of abuse.

Critics accused the show of romanticising domestic violence rather than condemning it or showing its serious consequences for victims.

The controversial scene involved the male lead character Dheeraj and the female lead character Rajji in a deeply disturbing sequence.

Dheeraj, played by Aasim Khan, is seen slapping Rajji, played by Garvita Sadhwani, in a moment of apparent rage and aggression.

He then pushes her violently and continues to physically intimidate her throughout the scene in ways that escalate the violence.

He pins her down forcibly on the bed, trapping her beneath him in a deeply uncomfortable position.

As the scene continues, he deliberately burns her hand when it touches a hot iron, causing her visible pain and distress.

As she screams from the pain, he tells her that he will never have any feelings for her whatsoever.

He further tells her that their relationship feels like a trap to him and that he only harbours hatred for her.

The combination of these elements in the scene has left viewers deeply disturbed and questioning the show’s message about relationships.

Reacting to the scene with visible anger, one user on X wrote:

“They’re romanticising abuse – pushed her around, slapped her, dumped a bucket of water on her, now burned her with an iron and he’s covering her screams in the name of romance??? End this crap!”

Another user expressed disbelief at what they had witnessed, writing: “I can’t believe what I saw today.

“They literally showed Dheeraj hurting Rajji and then eventually romanticising abuse.”

“He should be in jail, this is so disgusting. Can’t believe he is the same man who saved her from getting hurt by coming in between.”

The criticism reflects a broader concern about how television content normalises violence within intimate relationships.

An X post also read: “Nimmi wanted Rajji to patch up with Dheeraj as they needed more people in their team to defeat Mogra.

“Rajji is a human, and she has all right to feel bad for how she was being treated.”

This comment highlighted how the show seems to pressure the female character to accept abuse for plot purposes.

Another X user expressed: “I stopped watching after the slap, but wth is even going on.”

Multiple comments simply expressed shock and disbelief at what Mahadev and Sons had chosen to broadcast to its audience of millions.
