“I felt like she is a friend"
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has opened up about how she was treated on the sets of the 2008 film, Fashion by co-star Priyanka Chopra.
Fashion has completed 12 years since its release and it continues to be fondly remembered today.
The film was directed and co-produced by Madhur Bhandarkar with Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut and Mugdha Godse in lead roles.
Fashion revolves around the tale of the aspiring model and small-town girl, Meghna Mathur played by Priyanka Chopra.
Her dream of becoming a supermodel opens her up to the corruption in the world of haute couture realising that success comes at a price.
During an interaction with ETimes, Kangana Ranaut recalled her days on the sets of Fashion.
She praised her co-star Priyanka Chopra for not treating her like a junior artist or a child on the set.
Speaking about how she was star-struck by Priyanka, Kangana said:
“Priyanka is fabulous. She is somebody who back then also when I was 19 and she was such a big star.
“I was so starry-eyed because when I was in school, at that time I have been watching her films and here I was in my initial years.”
Kangana continued to mention how the pair would indulge in casual conversations. She said:
“I felt like she is a friend, who shared food with me and asked me questions like, ‘how do I look?’, ‘is this okay?’, ‘how this dress is looking?’”
Kangana further added that Priyanka did not act like her senior considering she was 19-years-old. She said:
“So, I didn’t feel like she is my senior and she is such a big star. It was a nice feeling that she has that ability, it’s wonderful.”
Fashion became a huge success and was praised for its eye-opening storyline.
Kangana Ranaut won her first National Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Fashion.
Priyanka Chopra also won the National Award for Best Actress for the film.
Today, fans still remember Priyanka and Kangana for their stellar roles in Fashion which explores feminism and female power in the Indian fashion industry.
On the work front, Priyanka Chopra will next be seen in The White Tiger opposite Rajkummar Rao and Adarsh Gourav.
The film will release in December 2020 in selected theatres and will debut on Netflix on January 22, 2021.
Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut was last seen in the 2020 film, Panga.
