Janhvi Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao are set to reunite in the upcoming cricket-themed film titled Mr and Mrs Mahi.
Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions announced the film on November 22, 2021.
Mr and Mrs Mahi will mark Janhvi and Rajkummar’s second collaboration after Roohi.
Mr and Mrs Mahi is directed by Sharan Sharma who also helmed Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl.
Janhvi, Rajkummar and Karan took to their respective Instagram handles to announce the film.
They each shared a teaser that revealed the actors’ names in the film.
Janhvi Kapoor will be seen in the role of Mahima whilst Rajkummar Rao will play Mahendra.
Karan Johar shared the teaser on Instagram and in the caption, he wrote:
“One dream, chased by two hearts.
“Presenting #MrAndMrsMahi, directed by Sharan Sharma who is back with another heart-warming story to tell with his touch of magic!
“Starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, a partnership to look forward to.
“See you on the field aka the cinemas on 7th October 2022”

Whilst Rajkummar shared a similar caption, Janhvi wrote:
“Time to pad up – it’s going to be a journey of two hearts chasing a dream!
“Presenting #MrAndMrsMahi, coming to cinemas near you on 7th October 2022.”
Although the announcement of the film left fans of the respective actors excited for their reunion, several netizens wondered if the film is based on the life of Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
In the comments section, one fan wrote:
“It’s based on MS Dhoni?”
Another fan asked: “Are you going to make a movie on MS Dhoni now?
“Bro we already love Sushant Singh Rajput’s #MSDhoniTheUntoldStory.”
While fans continue to speculate, Karan, Rajkummar and Janhvi are yet to address the rumours.
Sharing the excitement, Khushi Kapoor shared her sister Janhvi’s post on her Instagram Story with a caption of several white hearts.
Shanaya Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan also reacted to the post and left red heart emojis in the comments section.
Meanwhile, Bollywood is set to welcome two more cricket-based films in December 2021.
Ranveer Singh’s 83 is based on India’s first win at the Cricket World Cup in 1983.
Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey is a remake of the Telugu film of the same title.
Janhvi Kapoor will next be seen in Dostana 2 and Good Luck Jerry.
Rajkummar Rao, who recently got married to his girlfriend of 11 years Patralekha, will next be seen in Badhaai Do, HIT: The First Case and Monica, O My Darling.
