"Babar and I share a strong bond, often discussing various matters"
Speculations about Babar Azam’s marriage have been circulating since the ICC World Cup 2023, which was held in India.
Rumours intensified when he was reportedly seen shopping for his wedding attire.
It was reported that Babar was specifically looking for a sherwani from the esteemed Indian designer Sabyasachi.
The designer is known for his exquisite creations in the realm of bridal wear and formal attire.
According to sources, the sherwani reportedly carried a staggering price tag of Rs 700,000 (£6,500).
Additionally, Babar Azam was rumoured to have indulged in purchasing gold jewellery from renowned Indian brands.
These extravagant acquisitions have fuelled speculation and added further intrigue to the ongoing reports surrounding Babar Azam’s potential marriage.
Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper and a close confidant of Babar Azam, recently shed light on the former captain’s marriage plans.
He provided insight into their strong bond and collaborative relationship.
“We can enter each other’s room anytime because of our friendship.”
Rizwan shared details about their deep friendship, emphasising how they value each other’s opinions and often seek counsel on significant matters.
He said: “I advised Shadab Khan and Shaheen Afridi to consider marriage, while Babar Azam is preparing to marry soon.
“Marriage is a divine command of Allah, and the relationship between spouses is revered.
“Babar and I share a strong bond, often discussing various matters and seeking each other’s counsel.”
These reports have sparked considerable curiosity and excitement among fans and the media, eagerly awaiting confirmation from Baber himself.
A user wrote: “Finally, it is his turn. He really does deserve to be happy.”
Another said: “Excited to see who he married. This news is so out of the blue.”
One stated: “Rizwan can’t keep secrets it seems.”
Another asked:
“Indian designer? Indian jewellery? Couldn’t he have bought it from Pakistan?”
Meanwhile, on the cricket front, Babar Azam expressed his unhappiness over being asked to bat third.
This indicates that all is not well in the national team’s dressing room.
Babar made his feelings clear that he was not satisfied with the decision to bat at number three during the New Zealand T20Is in January 2024.
He said: “It was the Pakistan team’s demand at the time. I did that for Pakistan.
“If I was asked individually, I wasn’t satisfied with the decision to bat at one down position. However, I did that for Pakistan.”
Pakistan ended up losing the series 4-1.
