An Indian pharmacy student who staged her own abduction and rape has been found dead.

The 19-year-old from Hyderabad was discovered dead on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, in a suspected suicide.

In early February 2021, she had accused an auto-driver of kidnapping and raping her.

However, the police found her claims to be false.

According to police, the Indian student had been consuming pills before she was found unconscious at her home in Malkajgiri’s Ghatkesar.

She was declared dead shortly after being taken to a private hospital for treatment.

According to a report, police in Telangana launched an investigation due to allegations of the student being harassed by her relatives for her fabricated kidnap and rape story.

The false claims were exposed to Rachakonda Police on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.

In the report, Ghatkesar Inspector N Chandra Babu said:

“The girl didn’t leave behind any suicide note, but her family members have claimed that she was suffering from depression.

“She had stopped going to college fearing public humiliation.

“We are questioning her family members and friends to know what went wrong.”

According to the report, a relative of the Indian student said that she was not undergoing counselling for her mental health issues.

The relative said: “She always had a troubled relationship with her parents and even in the past, she had tried to run away from home.

“But this time when the police exposed her lies, she wasn’t prepared to face this kind of negative publicity.

“The entire family had turned against her, which may have forced her to take such an extreme step.”

On Wednesday, February 10, 2021, police rescued the girl from the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Her family had filed a police complaint saying that she had been kidnapped by an auto-driver and his friends.

Following the student’s testimony, a gang-rape charge was added to the First Information Report (FIR).

The accused auto-driver and his friends were then questioned by police.

On Saturday, February 13, 2021, Rachakonda Police found discrepancies in the student’s statement and created a video sequence collated from 100 different CCTV cameras.

Police questioned the girl a third time after finding no connection between her initial statement and their evidence.

The Indian student confessed to the fake story as well as creating a rape scene in a bid to mislead the police and implicate the auto-driver.

According to the report, the student wanted to exact revenge on the driver over a past altercation between the pair.
