Shocking viral footage shows an injured Indian student explaining that he was attacked by armed robbers near his apartment in Chicago, USA.

"Please help me, bro. Please help me.”

An Indian student was left seriously injured following an attack by a group of armed robbers in Chicago, USA.

Originally from Hyderabad, Syed Mazahir Ali moved to the United States to pursue a Master’s degree.

He is a student at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Footage shows the aftermath of the attack. A bloodied Syed detailed the violent robbery.

Recalling the attack, Syed explained that he was attacked by four men as he returned to his apartment from the shop.

Three of his attackers were seen walking across the road. Two had their hoods up while the third was wearing a balaclava.

One gave chase before the others followed. A desperate Syed runs away as he is pursued.

Syed said in his attempt to escape, he slipped near his house. The men then kicked and punched him.

After attacking him, the men stole his phone.

He said: “I was walking down the road, carrying food, when four people caught me and kicked and punched me. Someone took my phone too.”

Towards the end of the video, he says:

“Please help me, bro. Please help me.”

Throughout the video, a visibly distressed Syed is panting as blood pours from his head and nose.

Syed also claimed:

“This is something I cannot forget. He pointed a gun at me. There are two wounds on my head.”

Meanwhile, a friend believes Syed was targeted as a black car had been circling the area just before the robbery.

His wife Ruqiya Fatima has now written to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

It read: “This is to state that my husband Syed Mazahir Ali who was pursuing a Masters in Information and Technology from Indiana Wesleyan University.

“I got a call around 6 pm on February 4 from one of my husband’s friends that he had been attacked very badly and robbed at Campbell Avenue, Chicago while he was near his apartment and has been taken to some hospital.”

Ruqiya said her husband remains in a state of “shock”.

She continued: “I am very much worried about the safety and security of my husband.

“I request you to kindly help him in getting the best medical treatment and if possible make necessary arrangements so that I can travel to the USA along with my three minor children to be with my husband.”

She also claimed that her husband has not received proper treatment.
